A Megastar Is Born

In one of my previous post, I wrote about the would-be heir to the Nadal’s throne. That was some weeks before the Madrid Open tennis tournament was played.

After passing his two first rounds, not without some difficulty, Carlos Alcaraz, as this Spanish tennis player is called, had to deal with the player he most admires, Rafa Nadal. As expected, the match was very tight and thrilling. After three sets, Carlos Alcaraz managed to beat Rafa Nadal. At the end of the match, Alcaraz couldn’t hide his joy and in some way his surprise at winning Rafa Nadal. To be honest, at that very moment, I saw Nadal older than never before. Nadal is stronger and has more experience than Carlos. However, Carlos is much younger than Nadal. So much so that he turned nineteen the day before defeating Nadal. Carlos’s next opponent was nothing but the current world number one, Novak Djokovic. Djokovic is a very tough contender, maybe the toughtest, and he could have benefited from seeing Alcaraz playing against Nadal. This match was so tight that had to be decided in the tie-break. Although Carlos Alcaraz must have dreamed about winning two of the tree best ever tennis players, he had actually achieved it. Now the only thing left for Carlos was to lift the trophy. But accomplishing that feat wouldn’t be a bed of roses. Or at least, that’s what Carlos must have thought before the beginning of the match against the current world number three, the German tennis player Alexander Zverev. After having some initial hesitant moments, Carlos played as he had done previously in front of Nadal and Djokovic. Such was the case that after Zverev losing the first set, it seemed as if he were gradually disappearing from the court. Finally, not only did Carlos win the final but he was also able to reach it in just an hour.

What a huge feat carried out by such a promising young tennis player. Just a couple of weeks ago, I thought that a start was born, now, after seeing Alcaraz not only winning the Madrid Open but also defeating Nadal, Djokovic, and Zverev, I have changed my mind; A megastart called Alcaraz is born.

A Megastar Is Born

In one of my previous posts, I wrote about the would-be heir to the Nadal’s throne.

Changed the word “post” to the plural, and also removed “the” before Nadal as it’s not needed in front of someone’s name :)

At the end of the match, Alcaraz couldn’t hide his joy and in some way his surprise at winning Rafabeating Nadal.

Removed Nadal’s first name as it was already used in the previous sentence, & changed the word “winning” to “beating”.

Carlos’s next opponent was nothing butne other than the current world number one, Novak Djokovic.

Changed to “none other than” as it makes more sense than “nothing but” in this context.

Djokovic is a very tough contender, maybe the toughtest, and he could have benefited from seeing Alcaraz playing against Nadal.

Corrected typo in “toughest”

This match was so tight that it had to be decided in thea tie-break.

Although Carlos Alcaraz must have dreamed about winnbeating two of the three best ever tennis players, and now he had actually achieved it.

Changed the structure of this sentence slightly to correct the grammar. Changed the word “winning” to “beating” again as that is the correct word in this context (you “win” a game, but you “beat” your opponent, if that makes sense!) Also corrected typo in the word “three”.

Such was the case that after Zverev losing the first set, it seemed as if he wereas gradually disappearing from the court.

Changed “were” to “was” (if you’re talking about a single person in the past tense, the phrase in this context would be “he/she *was* disappearing” rather than “they/you/we *were* disappearing”)

This sentence could be a bit clearer too - when you say “it seemed as if he was disappearing from the court”, are you talking about Zverev or Alcaraz?

Just a couple of weeks ago, I thought that a start was born, n. Now, after seeing Alcaraz not only winning the Madrid Open but also defeating Nadal, Djokovic, and Zverev, I have changed my mind; A megastart called Alcaraz is born.

Corrected “start” to “star”, and chopped the sentence up into two parts to make it easier to read :)

Your English is absolutely excellent! I only had a few minor spelling & grammar corrections to make, but in general your command of the language is amazing. You obviously have a wide vocabulary and are capable of making a piece of writing interesting to a native speaker like me! Keep up the good work 👍

It would be strange to specify his name like that.

deal with - go up against

with a tie break? not too sure on tennis.

But accomplishing thatis feat wouldn’t be a bed of roses.

Starting a sentence with 'But' is technically wrong, but it happens all the time. You can link the 2 sentences:

Now the only thing left for Carlos was to lift the trophy, but accomplishing this feat wouldn’t be a bed of roses.
