China uses two calendars: the solar calendar and the lunar calendar.
The Lunar Calendar is for people who are in the countryside and depend on farming to support their livelihood.
The solar calendar is used by people who don't depend on farming, such as the military, government officials, factory workers and so on.
I was born and raised in the countryside in a farming family, so my family used the lunar calendar to decide when to plant or harvest crops.
In the meantime, I was also in elementary school and middle school. My school used the solar calendar to arrange my courses.
After I started working, my work unit only used the solar calendar. In short, the lunar calendar is only used by farmers to arrange farming.
Usually, people think that the first day of the next year is the new year and that is true, but, in China, Chinese people do have two new years, and the lunar new year is more grand than the solar new year because it's the traditional new year for Chinese people.
If people in other countries also use the same lunar calendar as Chinese people, and treat the first day of the lunar calendar as their traditional new year, that's okay and they can say, "Japanese New Year or Korean New Year."

In Taiwan, the lunar calendar is used quite extensively to calculate the dates for religious events & observances. It’s not just used by farmers—many non-farmers use it, too. For example, 农历七月份 is “ghost month,” when ghosts are able to interact with the living world, and for some reason Taiwanese ghosts have a reputation for drowning people, so beaches always see smaller crowds during this month, and it’s not just the farmers who are staying away from water. Also, most printed calendars show both the lunar and solar months and dates.

Yes, the lunar calendar is still being used by Chinese farmers and they are used to it. On the Chinese lunar calendar, there are 24 solar terms that are used for farming. Thank you very much.
