I'm from South of Vietnam and recently came to Ha Noi for the first time on a trip.
While I was standing on the sidewalk waiting to by some stuff, a lady walked by and said: "I need your help for a moment" and then kept going.
I thought she really needed my help with something, wondering: "what did she need help with?". So I stood there blankly. I even thought about running after her to help.
But finally, it turned out that "need your help" here actually just meant: "excuse me! Please let me pass".😁😁😁
Please
I'm from South ofern Vietnam and recently came to Ha Nnoi for the first time on a trip.
While I was standing on the sidewalk waiting to buy some stuff, a lady walked by and said:, "I need your help for a moment," and then kept gowalking.
To "keep going" is vague, it can mean to keep doing almost any action. I changed it to walking, because it otherwise might be understood that she kept speaking
I thought she really needed my help with something, and wondering:ed "what did she need help with?".
So I stood there blankly.
I even thought about running after her to help.
But finally, it turned out that "I need your help" here actually just meant:s "eExcuse me!
Please let me pass"." 😁😁😁
Punctuation goes inside the ending quotation mark
Please
No need for a second "please"
