Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Nowadays, it is easier for people to maintain good health than those living in the past.
When asked about is it easier to maintain good health in present-day than in the past? Most people strongly support the idea that it is much more easier than before, while others disagree. Personally, I side with the first.
To begin with, most of governments provide an all-round health care system to citizens that they have a better chance to maintain their good health. As a government, strives for the well-being of the citizens is vital goal to govern the country. Having a good health system which will take good care of their people and live longer. Suppose a patient have a health problem, thanks to developed technology, he is able to discover the the problem early, be treated and recover as soon as possible.
Moreover, people have more health knowledge than before. The conception of health is developing by our education. More and more people concern about the nutrition balance and body health. For instance, most of family have refrigerator at home. If they have leftover, they will put it into refrigerator and finish it soon. It is because they have the conception of putting food into cooler that will not get worse. Yet, people in the past, did not have this technology to store the food, it was possible have some health problems. So the knowledge of health is essentially important to people which will maintain our good health.
Of course, some people might say that it is more challenging to maintain good health nowadays than those living in the past. It is because people are too busy to cook by themself and it is because too convenient to eat outside. In most Asian countries, for example, people usually work overtime, when they off duty, they are not willing to buy goods from supermarket, and cook by themself, since it is time consuming. So they prefer eat outside which the food is more salty and sweetly than the one made at home. However, I believe that it is easier for people to maintain good health of the time. It either we have an all-round health care system or good health knowledge. People have far more great chance, after all, living in a health life.

Some young people are free in the evening or have days off at school, which way can bring them the most benefit?
1. Trying to accumulate work experience by a part-time job or volunteering in a community.
2. Learning to play a sport.
3. Learning to play a musical instrument.
As time goes by, technology offers most people equally have an opportunity to gain abundant sources from the internet to develop own ability. Nowadays, young people live in a competitive society, more and more parents begin to pay attention on their children’s education not only academic work but extracurricular activities as well. Among the three choices offered in the prompt, I side with trying to accumulate work experience by a part-time job or volunteering in a community brings young people the most benefit.
To begin with, accumulating work experience by a part-time job is a best chance to observe the real work life. Only through a practical work experience, can young kids discover how is the workplace look like and be prepared advance. Working at a restaurant, for instance, children are able to learn how to order, make dishes, place tables and so on. Through the working experience, they certainly understand the whole process in real life not just imagination or even make sure this is the job they want to do in the future. So, having working experiences previously have much more benefit to young people, they will not waste their time to recognize what working area do they like after graduated.
Moreover, volunteering in a community is a priceless opportunity to learn interpersonal skill. In present-day, people gradually lose their ability of communicating with people face to face since they are too rely on communication applications. A case in point, being a volunteer in a hospital, young people have a chance to communicate with doctors, patients, and the others volunteers, meanwhile they are able to cultivate their interpersonal skill. In addition, the skill definitely help them learn how to express their perspectives politely and respect others’ different viewpoints.
Admittedly, some people might think that young people learn to play a sport or learn to play a musical instrument are more beneficial. These either enhance their teamwork ability or develop all-round interests. Playing a basketball match, for example, players indeed need each other to cooperate with, build their well-coordinated and gain a victory as a goal which require a lot of practices to achieve. However, having work experiences or volunteering in a community cannot only have a better picture of real work life but learn interpersonal skill. For me, if children want to survive in this severe world of the time, after all, they should be prepared.

*IOC(口頭試問文学分析, Individual Oral Commentary)は国際バカロレアという教育の一つの課題。 私の学校の特別な可能性のある作品は一つのLangston Hughesの11の詩とFitzgeraldのThe Great GatsbyかShakespeareのKing Lear。

It's already halfway through January. Though, as I mentioned in the last entry, I feel a bit lost and confused right now, I do think that I've made some progress with my language studies. I probably haven't improved much in terms of language skills, but I have taken a lot more initiative to learn and to practise compared to last year.
I'm doing okay with Italian now. I mean, at least I'm exposed to the language everyday. I either listen to an Italian podcast or read some texts on Italian culture (I'm particularly interested in the history and cuisine). I'm aiming to build up and expand my vocabulary during the first half of the year. For those who are also learning Italian, I'd recommend a podcast on Spotify called "Coffee Break Italian". It is geared towards beginners and the host explains the concepts in English so you'd be able to understand the nuances. As for intermediate learners, I'd recommend "Arkos Academy - Learn Italian", also on Spotify. They focus on a specific topic in each episode. IMO the topics are really interesting, they're mostly about famous Italians, bits about Italian history and also some famous Italian brands. They also offer transcripts of the episodes on their website, which, IMO, is an invaluable learning resource when it comes to language learning because it trains your listening skills AND reading skills at the same time.
As for Japanese, I'm falling behind schedule! I have enrolled in an online course for the N4 level and I was planning to do one lesson every two days. Today is the 15th and I'm still on lesson 3...... This is a disaster. I will try my best to get back on track but I don't have much faith in my procrastinating self, lol! Hopefully in my next "progress" entry, I'd be able to bring some good news!
What about you? Have you made much progress with your language studies so far?

(I'm learning a contracted form. If there's any word that can be contracted, please correct it.)
There're some cafes I use to study English after work. Yesterday I found the cafe I like the most was closed. To me, this cafe's a place with something like spiritual energy,
so my TOIEC score got higher and higher as I studied at this cafe. I went to another cafe I like the second but it was also closed. That cafe's bread was cheap but tasty. I went to a cafe chain reluctantly.
Coffee and sandwiches're not good but not cheap; the couple on the right of me started to have a quarrel; the two young girls behind me were speaking ill of someone; a man and a woman on the front-left were also bad-mouthing someone, so I felt helpless. The limit of my patience to stay there was 15 minutes. I'm now wandering around in search of a quiet cafe.
