Japan Bans Entry of Foreigners from Hubei Province PM Abe Orders
Concerning the outbreak of the newly emerged coronavirus in Wuhan City, Province of Hubei China, Japanese Prime Minister Abe announced that foreigners with a history of staying in the mentioned province will be banned from entering the country. The announcement was made at the emergency response headquarters on the evening of the 31st. As more and more travelers cancel their trip to China, the public is reacting vigilantly towards the situation. This measure was based on the immigration act, however, targeting a specific country or area was conducted for the first time.
This act includes a ban on travelers with a history of visiting Hubei Province within the 14 days of entry application date and foreign visitors with a Hubei-issued passport. The measure will come into effect at midnight on February 1st and will be continued for an undefined amount of time.
“We will enforce every means to stop the spread of the virus by further increasing the effectivity of stopping the virus at the border”, PM Abe emphasized.
If a Chinese citizen with a Hubei-issued passport has a Japanese partner or has resided outside of Hubei province for a longer period of time, he or she may be permitted entry. In such cases, visitors would be declaring their status at passport control. If a person commits perjury, their residence status will be revoked.
The Japanese government set the enforcement of the government ordinance date of the designation of coronavirus based on the infectious diseases law forward from the original February 7th to February 1st. The aforementioned designation will allow involuntary hospitalization and limitations of labor for the patients.
After receiving the WHO’s declaration of emergency, the U.S. government raised the travel advisory level among mainland Chine to the highest “Do Not Travel” level.
The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also increased the level of safety information regarding all regions in China to level 2 encouraging not to make any nonessential and nonemergency trips, in addition to the Hubei province whose infection safety level is set to level 3, strongly advising the public not to travel.
According to the data from the flight trafficking website “Flight Radar 24”, 91 flights from China had been canceled as of the afternoon of the 31st, marking an increase from 44 flights the day before. More flights are anticipated to be canceled as travel and transportation between China and the rest of the countries are rapidly shrinking.
On the 31st, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Toshimitsu Motegi, stated that the dispatch of the fourth chartered airplane to bring back (repatriate) the Japanese citizens from Hubei province is scheduled to take off after next week.

Ex-Director of VW to Become the New CEO of Renault
French automotive giant Renault appointed Luca De Meo, a former CEO of Seat, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, as the new CEO. Withthehis experience of working for Toyota in the past, De Meo was considered as suitable for strengthening ties with Nissan and Mitsubishi.
Since De Meo had a non-compete agreement with Volkswagen preventing him from accepting positions at competitive companies for a certain period, his starting date at Renault is set to July 1st. Clotilde Delbos, current CFO of Renault will be temporarily doubling as the CEO until then and will take the post of the vice-CEO afterward.
Renault’s director, Jean-Dominique Senard, commented “this is a significant event for Renault and Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance. In a drastically changing automotive market, we believe Mr. De Meo will bring up strong strategies and a wider prospect”.
De Meo is originally from Milan. He has worked in Renault, Toyota Europe and Fiat (now Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) in the past. Later in 2009, he joined Volkswagen as the head of the marketing department. In 2015, he had taken the post of the head of a Spanish popular car brand, Seat, which at that time was undergoing a negative performance.
De Meo introduced (reconsideration?review? reevaluation? reassessment?) of SUVs and EVs and re-established the brand back on its tires. He has extensive knowledge of the European automotive market as well as completely fluent in French. Although it was estimated that Renault’s main stockholder, the French government, would insist on appointing a French person to the position, eventually, the selection was approved.
After the resignation of Carlos Ghosn, Renault’s former director and CEO, Renault appointed Thierry Bolloré as CEO in January 2019. However, Bollore’s management methods didn’t receive positive feedback, resulting in his removal from the post the same year in October.
Seat announced the resignation of De Meo on the 7th. This announcement was anticipated to be an advanced plan for the acceptance of the CEO position at Renault.

I have some dreams a night.
It literally means not just one dream, but several dreams a night.
Sometimes I have bad dreams a night, and I find I get tired when I wake up.
My bad dreams are usually things related to my bad memories, things I’m worried, or terrible things that would never happen to my family.
Here is an interesting research result in 2004.
If you sleep on your left side, you tend to have a nightmare.
There were 63 people who took part in that research.
41 people slept on their right side, and 15% of them had a nightmare.
22 people slept on their left side, and 41% of them had a nightmare.
They say one of the reasons why you have a nightmare when you sleep on your left side is that the weight is on your heart.
Though this research is not enough, every time I sleep on my left side when I have a bad dream!
Which sleeping position you take?
And do you have a good dream?

To enhance my conversations at language exchange meet-ups, I want to prepare questions.
1. When you hear the word "Japan", what do you think of?
2. What do you think is interesting about Japan after you came to Japan?
3. What's a thing you think it's inconvenient or annoying in Japan?
Did you order what you want to eat smoothly at a restaurant?
4. My friends travel to other countries because they like to visit world heritages and do museum-hopping.
What's your main purpose of overseas trips?
My main purpose is eating local dishes at food stalls on the streets. They're not customized in taste for tourists unlike the restaurants introduced on the guidebooks.
I want to enjoy the real local dishes in other countries. The second purpose is watching fairy-tale-like buildings.
5. Have you ever had an embarrassing experience in other countries?
I've been to London. While I was waiting for the traffic signal to turn to green, I god a lot of bird's droppings on my head and my right shoulder and my bag. There were many people on the other side to wait for the traffic signal. Some of them noticed me and laughed. My mind went brank and I froze there. I was so embarrassed that I ran away almost in tears for a back alley.
6. Do you have any failure story in other countries?
When I went in a Subway, a sandwich chain shop, I ordered like I do in Japan, then I got a whole baguette sandwich. I was shocked. In Japan we can get a half baguette sandwich without saying anything. Even a drink, the cup size is much bigger than that of Japan. How could I possibly eat? I tore the bread into two and ate one there and put the other in my bag after wrapped it with some pieces of paper napkin. I was almost in tears.

I read an article about a turf war between the Department of Education and CFPB. I feel sorry for people whose student loans couldn't be forgiven despite spending 8 or 9 years in the military.
I am really sorry that I can't make corrections today because I'm really tied up. I will do that in a couple of days since I will be relatively free by then.

Although I see this word multiple times a day, I never search up its definition until one of my girl friends ( not girlfriend) told me that I was a commitment phobic. I was confused as I didn't understand what she meant by that. Now it is starting to make sense. I always wondered why did I always get cold feet when things started to get real, why did I run away like its a house on fire. Because I am afraid of commitment. I am afraid of this relationship thing. It probably has something to do with my thought process. Let me break it to you. I am 21 by the way. Let's say If a relationship has worked out, I have to spend rest of my life with only one girl, otherwise it is a break up which means everyone get hurt. It is a double edge sword for me.
See the problem is that I want to catch bigger fish but just when I thought I found one , the first thing I do is looking for red flags and flaws. I eventually ghosted them and feel like a jerk. Investing my time on another person other than my family members or friends seems like a waste. Although I hate dramas, I do care people and their emotions but I just can't bring myself to commit to just one girl. The idea of dying alone really does scare me though. Maybe I just haven't found the so called one like a typical romance movie. Anyway I am focusing on other things for now. Thanks for reading. :)

Since I ran out of ideas and have absolutely no idea what to write about, I'll be writing anything that comes to my mind.
After school, I was exhausted; however, I stayed a bit active. I read the novel 'Last Wish', the first book in the series 'The Witcher' , a year ago. One day, I found out that Netflix recently released "The Witcher" as a series. It grabbed my attention to some extent, even though I'm not a huge fan of the series . Also, I felt excited to have listened to the song " Toss a Coin to Your Witcher ". When I listened to it for the first time, it gave me chills. The song was exquisite and it prompted me to start watching the full series, so I guess I’ll watch it someday.
Another thing that came to my mind is how irritating it can be when my nose gets stuffed up every 2-3 hours. I use my handkerchief to wipe the snot away from my leaking nose.
Once, my friend and I happened to both be walking toward the barbershop in my neighborhood . I said " Hi ," and we struck up a long and deep conversation. I remember we'd been talking for hours when it was my turn to have my hair cut. After that, I said farewell and headed back home. I wonder what my friend is doing now. He must be playing games...Who knows?
