I randomly choose words, expressions, phrasal verbs etc. from my flash cards and my task is to incorporate them into meaningful sentence/s or a short story.
VOID, PLUMMET, PIVOTAL, JUNIPER BUSH, MAKE A HASH OF SMTH., UNCONVENTIONAL, FEEL GIDDY, SMITTEN, SALUBRIOUS, FLEXING
Wow…Look who’s here.
Our eagle fallen from the sky.
I know why you are here. Because you have nowhere to go, haven’t you? Life is tricky, isn’t it?
Can you remember how all it start?
Your self-confidence, arrogance and sometimes unconventional approach to resolve the financial problems made you a name for yourself and fortune in a really short period of time.
And from that moment the fall has begun.
You began losing loyal friends by flexing in front of them every flat you live in, every car you drive, every girl you date.
You were obsessed with money and felt giddy of the power and fame that it gave to you.
You were so smitten…smitten by yourself.
And then, the same traits that help you became rich and famous played a cruel trick on you. Little did you see that the people you consider as your friends hate you and was conspiring against you convincing you made one pivotal decision that eventually leads to plummeting your fame and wealth literally overnight.
After that you were being hunted by government, media, creditors and even mobsters. You tried to hide like a little bird in the juniper bushes, flinching every time you heard any footsteps outside the door.
You lost everything; loyal friends, the girl you were in love with, money, cars, houses, fame, respect, honor…You made a hash of your life…You are about to touch the void.
And now, you are here, at doorsteps of those whose trust you betrayed…your family.
You know, I think it for the best. All that has happened is a blessing in disguise. I hope it’ll be an awakening moment and a salubrious turn for your mind and your maimed soul.
Anyway, you must know. We have loved you all this time, and I believe that EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE.

The motorcade dashing along the half-empty streets of Pyengmeawng.
They must be in time.
The fate of humankind depends on her.
Every time when an excruciating pain strikes the ruthless dictator’s back more and more often he comes with an idea to push his own red button and share his insufferable pain with the rest of the world.
They must be in time.
Sitting on a comfy limo backseat, master Meow Shi stays calm. Being exempted from any rat race in her life, over the years she obtains the indisputable skill of kneading- the art that now can save human lives.
Having understood that, she uses her soft power wisely, not only mitigating tyrant’s lower back pain and heart, but also thwarting gruesome plans to throw the world into the utter chaos of a nuclear warfare.

ALL-OVER-BODY WORKOUT, MAKE GREAT STRIDES, FURLOUGH, SMTH IS A TIME AWAY, LATCH
It could be extremely frustrating to find yourself is being furloughed for uncertain period of time.
All bad habits that are hiding in the dark corners of your mind, soul and body start to appear demanding their share in your life.
Overindulge is one of them. It always come hand on hand with laziness. At the beginning we’re eager to eat healthy food because we'd read a lot of scientific, semi-scientific and not-even-close-scientific articles about it.
But time passes, our enthusiasm begins fading away, quality gradually decreases, quantity sharply rises though.
Homemade food is replaced fast and ready-to-cook food.
We are stuck in a situation that I call ‘vegetation without vegetables’. Been there!
From now on we basically have two options.
Firstly, to lock all locks and to latch all latches from any changes and keep to a self-perpetuating spiral of self-pity and overindulging. Or…
Secondly. I know, it might sound as hackneyed phrase, but we must to be proactive especially physically. Our willingness to do that could initiate further changes.
It doesn’t matter whether the returning to workplace could be a long time away or in a week.
You don’t need to make great strides in bodybuilding or fitness. You don’t have to become a professional athlete after the furlough. Just find something that suits you and also can bring you some joy, one thing though, it should be exercises for all body.
Choose one suited all-over-body workout program and stick with it.
This kind of simple activity keeps your body strong, your mind proactive and helps you get through tough times.
So. Get up. Sit down….Get up. Sit down…Get up. Sit down…and so on 100 more times.

In recent years, governments have widely developed public transportation. More and more individuals find using subway, buses and other means of public transport convenient for their daily commutes. However, many people still prefer to own a car. In this essay, I will look at some reasons to use public transport and a few drawbacks that might be crucial for some people.
Let’s start by looking at some of the advantages of public transportation. The main reason to use public transport is that it is cheaper than owning a car. Generally speaking, some individuals like students and young adults can’t afford to purchase a car. Moreover, for groups of citizens such as children, teens and old people, public transportation can be their only option. For the car owners, using public transport decrease money they spend of parking fees as well as decreasing the fuel expenses. Another positive can be that citizens combine using public and private means of transport such as bicycle or scooter. For instance, in day-to-day commute to their work, people can transport their bicycles in subway, and then ride the rest of the way on bicycle.
On the other side of the argument is a negative reputation of public transport. For many years, in my country people had to travel in outdated Soviet buses. In the majority of cases, those buses were heavily overcrowded and the ride bear a great amount of discomfort. Therefore, even if now this situation has changed, people still detest to use public transportation and strive to own a car. Another disadvantage of using public transport that it has a strict route. On the other hand, people can use their cars to go to the countryside or to the destination outside of the public transportation zone.
Public transportation is an essential part of every modern city. In spite of not being approved by the absolute majority of citizens and having some limitations, developed public transportation system makes cities accessible and effective to use. I believe that in the future progress will be continued developing into more sophisticated and convenient way.

My experience with computers started, I suppose, in late 1980’s, when PCs were quite rare things but were very fashionable and were a subject of rumors and semi-scientific stories. I was a schoolchild on that times, and my father worked in an organization which used large computing machines and also PCs. Once, he brought me to his work to show me that amazing thing – a PC (now I think that was something like IBM PC/XT). Of course, what could I learn at first was some software, and since I was a child, of course that software were games. Later, I found the name of one of the game – it was Digger, one of the most famous game of early PCs. There were another game related to winter sports, but I don’t remember the name of it. By the way, in my opinion, games were much interesting on that times than today, I mean scripts of games, because those who made them had to be more creative to make attractive game in conditions of poor resources of the computer. Then, my own home computer appeared in my life. My elder brother made for me by his hands a home computer, that was a clone of ZX Spectrum computer, but in fact, it was a real computer! Maybe somebody still remembers that cultic computer of 80s. Nowadays it may seems to be weird, but this computer used TV as a monitor and tape recorder as external memory. And it had only 48 kilobytes of RAM! But nevertheless, software companies of that times managed to make really nice games. So I started my acquaintance with PCs with games that were recorded on ordinary tape recorder. Every time I wanted to play it I had to load it from compact cassette into computer memory, and it took around 5 minutes, and even could failed, if the tape was damaged. For today it sounds like absolutely madness. Soon I became bored of all that games, and I began to think how to make my own game. I started to learn a programming language – the computer had embedded Basic language. It gave me a lot of fun, but I quickly realized that the speed of my programs were not sufficient to make really dynamic moving in the game. Then I decided to learn Assembler language. And I did it. My last program was 16 kilobytes long of pure Assembler, but I still had not made a game. But I was still a schoolchild, and time came to get in the university, so I had to prepare to do this. When I became a student, I acquired a normal PC, like IBM-type, and the work with ZX Spectrum was dropped. My new computer had 486-processor, and MS-DOS operational system (who can remember it now?). And on that times I became familiar with Windows, version 3.1, that was like graphical addition to MS-DOS, and software like Microsoft Word and Excel. Then, I sold that computer and bought a new one, that was PC with Pentium-1 CPU, and Windows’95 OS. Then, I upgraded it to Windows’98. And, eventually, I got rid of that computer…. That’s how my experience with computers started.

Random words; WHAT LINE OF WORK ARE YOU IN?, WHEEZE, AFFIRMATIVE, BUNK OFF, I’M UP FOR
Can anybody explain it to me?
On my last job interview I was asked two questions
1. What line of work was I in?
2. What would I like my working process look like?
I answered that on my previous job the main task was just twiddling my thumbs all the time, and then time to time push some crap to every plonker I call.
And now I’m up for a job where I can easily get affirmative respond whenever I wanted to stay at home, and where I don’t need to make up any wheeze to bunk off every day especially on Fridays.
So, the point is, why I didn’t get the job?

After accession to power, the king Ruthgard commanded his minions published a book of his reminiscence where he would be presented in the blaze of glory, victory, and mercy.
When “The Great King of Gromhold” was released, many noble families were obliged to have it in their libraries. Only a few of them knew that nearly every page of that book was written in ‘bloody ink’.
In his reminiscence, the king absolutely ‘forgot’ mentioned that being only the eighth rightful heir he inherited only a small part of a huge bequest, a little principality at the far end of the kingdom.
But he was ambitious, greedy for power, and had a plan on how to become the one and the only one heir. His ascending to the throne wasn’t blistering and easy but finessed he contrived and convinced every contender in his loyalty until the very last moment before their death when they found themselves betrayed by him.
Using assassins or staunch him people for killing he didn’t intend to staunch the flow of blood overflowed the kingdom. However, reading the book, even a really attentive reader didn’t notice that it’s about the most bloodthirsty king the Gromhold has ever given birth to.
How many heads of his ‘enemies’ were severed and hidden in the woods all over the kingdom, how many nobles were smothered to death in their beds, how many of them were given a little shove while they were standing on the walls their own impenetrable castles?
But now, the feast is in full swing, tables lavishing with food, wine flowing like a river, the horde of drunken sycophants and nouveau riches, mercenaries and cutthroats, scoundrels and crooks dancing in the Great Hall celebrating the launch of the book trying to please the king.
Little did he know that a poisoned arrow that kills him in a moment has already been fired.

Was ist Kunst?
Lass uns erst unstersuchen, was das Wörterbuch sagt.

The title of this text refers to a famous play written by Samuel Beckett. Beckett wrote this play when he already had fame and recognition from his peers, but the play came to sediment his talent. Beckett also wrote other notable pieces, however, Waiting for Godot remains the main milestone in his prolific career. The play was written in French, a language that Beckett spoke perfectly, in fact, he lived in Paris most of his life to the point of identifying himself with the French culture. To this day, Samuel continues to be one of the main referents of the “Theatre of the absurd”, a term used to talk about those plays whose plot is unclear, bordering on absurdity, comedy, and also with tinges of realism. A great example of this style of theatre is indeed Waiting for Godot. The play revolves around two middle-aged men, a pair of friends who are in the middle of nowhere. As soon the play begins it’s clear that both characters are lost, they don’t know where they are, or where they come from, let alone where they are going. In this sense, the play mirrors the ageless philosophical questions Who am I? Where do I come from? and Where am I going?. In fact, the author intended to replicate on the stage these existential questions by using the irony of the absurd, so that the audience can relate to the characters in an indirect way. As for the script, Beckett resorts to illogic dialogues that reveal nothing in regards to the characters’ background or motivations. At this point, the play is sublime because even though the spectator can understand nothing about what’s going on the stage, it’s still possible to relate to the dialogues, sentiments, and agonies of the characters. Perhaps, this is due that we the same as Vladimir and Estragon live our lives without really comprehending why we are here, or what is the sense of it all. This is precisely the point of existentialism, and this play portrays this internal crisis masterfully. Nonetheless, Beckett always refused to answer any question related to the meaning of the play. He used to say that the play was there to be interpreted by each spectator according to their beliefs. For some, Godot refers to a God that would come to give meaning to their lives, for others Godot is just a supreme reason that keeps them alive. Whatever the case, the play is fantastic.

Claudia.
