Exchange Bread
I bought bread at a grocery. I got home and then noticed that the package of the bread was torn. I thought I broke it on my way, but the bread already became dry and hard, so I figured out the package was torn before I bought it. I forgot to buy milk, so I went back to the grocery and had it exchanged for a new one and bought milk. I'll make sure if packages are ok before buying.

Le tour de la foi.
Une jeune Australienne décide de faire le tour du monde à pied pour une bonne cause.
Elle a pris la décision il y a plusieurs années, quand’elle était encore au lycée. Martha a toujours étudié dans des écoles avec un lien religieux. Autrement dit, l’église a une place très important dans sa vie depuis quelques années.
À cause de ça, elle a organisé un tour pour propager sa foi. Le tour est censé commencer par le Chine et, ensuite, elle ira jusqu’en Europe, puis aux Amériques et, enfin, en Australie de nouveau. Elle a d’espoir de rassembler le maximum des personnes à son parcours.

La température
Il fait extrêmement froid dehors. En ce moment la température est de -35 Celsius avec un refroidissement éolien de -48. Il est 4h du matin, alors il ne fera pas aussi froid pendant la journée demain, mais je vais rester à l'intérieur autant que possible quand même. J'espère qu'il va commencer à se réchauffer dans les prochains jours.

Food poisoning
I got food poisoning about three weeks ago. The food poisoning probably caused by eating raw chicken. I had a fever, headache, and diarrhea for about three days. I was in bad shape. My mother says that my family easily gets food poisoning from eating raw meat. So, I'll never eat it again because I don't wanna go through that again. It was so hard. Food poisoning brought about vomiting and diarrhea at the same time, so I had to vomit to toilet where I had had diarrhea. It smelled so bad. The worse it smelled, the more momentum of vomiting increased. I'm sorry about this dirty story. I just want you to see how I felt terrible. That's about it.

学校の知識で死を免れた
以下の話はアメリカ、フロリダ州に住んでいる10歳のJuliana Ossaの忘れにくい記憶です。2017年5月にワニに襲われたが、学校知識のおかげで意外と死を免れました。
2017年7月に、ある土曜の午後2時30分ごろ、Moss公園のMaryjane湖でした。救助者によると、その時Ossaが水中に歩く渡っていて、川岸まで9メートル離れました。突然ある2.6メートルのワニがその子の足を噛みました。自然な反応で噛まられない足でその子がワニを殴りましたが、どうにもなりませんでした。窮すれば通ずで、ワニの弱点が鼻だという学校で教わった知識と急に思い出しました。
「その時、先生から教えてもらったものを思い付いて、ワニの鼻に2本指を突きました。ワニが口で呼吸させられたので、私の足を離しました」と女の子が語りました。
近くに立っていたある証人がOssaを川岸まで引いておいて、膝とふくらはぎの包帯を待ちしました。そのあと女の子が入院されました

Questions about my practice
1. School started on a bitter / frozen cold day in February.
2. Because of economic crisis, industrial output remained stagnant/ inactive
Why the fomer one is better? Is there any difference between bitter cold and frozen cold? I think inactive is better because "stagnant" already have the meaning of "remain". I think it's unnecessary to use "stagnant" with "remain".

Una trama creíble y increíble
¿Cuál tiene mejores tramas, Netflix o las noticias? Después de seguir la trama de lo que está pasando en Rusia con Alexei Navalny, la respuesta a esta pregunta te resultará más fácil. Para darte un poco contexto, Navalny es un audaz critica de Putin y ha atrevido a publicar videos sobre la corrupción de Putin en lo personal y también el gobierno ruso. Déjame decir que a Putin no le cae bien a Navaly. Resultó que Rusia trató de envenenar a Navalny, él sobrevivó (muchas veces), Navalny publicó videos sobre mil millones de dólares en corrupción, y desencadenó manifestaciones inéditas en décadas en Rusia. Como las mejores series, esta trama tiene tensión, acción, giras inesperadas, personajes complejas, y contextos más profundos que pensarías. Pero a diferencia de las series, no es dado por hecho que esta trama tendrá un fin predeciblemente bueno y después de la muerte no dicen 'cut'.

Les doits humain en Turquie
Je suis Turc et j’ai quitté mon pays à cause de la situation grave politique. Il n’y pas de doits fondamentaux humains, il n’y pas de liberté de parler. Malheureusement, il y’a beaucoup de journalistes emprisonnés, parce que il font leur travail. Il y’a beaucoup des élèves en prison, parce que ils sont partager leur propre opinion sur social media. Pire, il y’a à peu près 1000 bébés dans les prisons de la Turquie.
J’ai voté deux fois pour le gouvernement, j’ai fait campagne pour eux. Parce que, quand ils sont commencé leur vie politique, il disaient que leur but est devenir une pays démocratique. Mais, malheureusement je vois que, aujourd’hui la Turquie devient un pays dictatorial chaque jours.

Les livres et la déception
Je viens de lire un livre vraiment superbe, alors le moment où je l'ai fini, j'ai décidé d'acheter un autre livre du même écrivain. Selon les textes de présentation sur la jaquette, cet deuxième livre était son meilleur, mais je le trouve insipide et pas original – bien pire que le premier. Je suis tellement déçue !

Please don't be offended by my curiosity about the word in q
I have encountered an enigmatic expression in a Watch What Happens episode in Top Chef, where intelligent Gail Simons says,
I’m the real slut, is what she’s trying to say (laughing).
I couldn't figure out the meaning of "slut" in this sentence. I'll give you just a little bit of background. During that episode, Gail is not the focus, but Padma Lakshmi is. The host is saying, like, that Padma wears a wide variety of clothes every time she appears in the show. Hearing that, Padma starts saying, chuckling, "Actually, Gail...". Then Gail interrupts her with that sentence.
The meaning I have known seems to be totally inappropriate. Then I found a dictionary definition that might fit into the situation.
> Informal. a person with a seemingly insatiable but often undiscerning desire to do or have something specified: guilty of being a shoe slut | a book slut, reading five books at once.
Then, the original sentence probably seems to mean that she has a seemingly insatiable desire to have lots of clothes. But, I am not sure because I only see, in the dictionary entry, the word with attributive adjectives that might explain the meaning of "slut". "real" in that sentence does not seem to be what specifies the meaning of the word.
What do you think about this? (I ask you who may correct my writing ^^;)

Fútbol americano
Nunca me han interesado mucho los deportes, aunque me habría gustado entender fútbol americano porque ver los partidos fue un pasatiempo popular cuando estaba en la universidad. A mis compañeros de trabajo les gusta hablar de fútbol americano (de hecho, me invitaron a participar en un juego de apuestas para el Super Bowl). Lo que siempre me pasa es que no puedo seguir las reglas complicadas y me distraigo durante las pausas frecuentes. Mientras los equipos hablan, miro las bailarinas, la banda o los anuncios en las pantallas y antes de que me doy cuenta, el partido ya ha resumido y un equipo ha ganado un punto.

Ayer fue sábado y mi esposo trabajó en el porto. Él trabajó en una barca y fue un dia larga por él. Los niños y yo estábamos en casa. Nosotros limpiamos nuestra casa. ¡Fue mucho trabajo! Los niños limpieron nuestros habitaciones. Y yo limpió el resto de casa. No fue divertido pero fue necesario. Despues limpiamos la casa fuimos a la biblioteca y recogimos libros. Entonces esperamos para mi esposo y miramos la tv. Cuando mi esposo regresó a casa ordenamos cena para llevar. Despues cena los niños prepararon para cama. Ellos leyeron libros y fueron dormir. Mi esposo y yo miramos un programa de televisíon se llama What we do in the Shadows (lo que hacemos en las sombras). Es sobre vampiros y es muy excellente y gracioso.

The Land of Shadow
Usually the dreams I see are not particularly pleasant, so I am happy to wake up. This one, however, was very interesting. I wish I could see what happened next.
I followed my guide through the twisted, distorted city. On both sides of the broad street we were following there were houses, or what re,ained of houses. Each of them was an eclectic mix of classicism and gothics, with countless towers, arches and elaborate high reliefs. Behind some of the arched windows there was watchful darkness: through the other loomed colourless sky. There were thumble-down walls with stone gargoyles clinging to crumbling cornices, stairways spiraling to nowhere, towers broken off, but still floating in the air. This place was devoid of colour.
It was completely silent. Our footsteps were the only sound that could be heard. At the beginning it seemed disturbing, but now I felt peace, as if my soul was finally put to rest. I would be happy to stay here if I didn’t have a mission.
We came to an immense building, which resembled a gothic cathedral, with countless ribs of flying buttresses. We entered its dark hallway and turned to the stairs. I could see only the man walking in front of me and the rib vaults above me, but in front of us there was complete darkness.
As we slowly ascended, I gradually became aware of myself. I ended up in this shadow realm, with my soul and body. For this reason I could escape. It was my mission to escape, for my king and my people needed me desperately. My companion was the gatekeeper of this place.
The stairs came to an end. We found ourselves in a long hall with bookcases on both sides of it and tables in the middle.
“Are you sure, Lord Chancellor?” the man asked. His vice was soft and quiet. “You will not be able to return as a human. You will have to hide in shadows, hated and scorned even by those whom you love.”
I pondered the question. Will my king understand me? Or will he draw back in fear when he sees my new form? Whatever his reaction might be, I must protect and guide him. I swore that I would be by his sight till my last breath. So be it.
“I am ready.”
The gatekeeper sighed.
“Wait here please.”
He went along the hall till he disappeared in the dark.
I heard flapping of countless wings. Only at that moment I noticed that the hall was full of tiny birds,
I used to feed birds in the every morning in the garden. I loved these little creatures, and never thought if imprisoning them for my pleasure.
I searched for something to give them and found a couple of pignoli in a vase on a table. I put them on the palm of my hand. Immediately a willow warbler landed on it. I felt its claws gripping on my hand and smiled.
“You are a good person, Lord Chancellor.”
I slowly turned my head, trying not to scare the bird off.
The gatekeeper made a gesture, inviting me to follow him.
“Everything’s ready.”

Was passiert mit der Stadt-Bibliotheken?
Ich war so froh, wenn ich die Idee von Stadt-Bibliothek gefunden habe. Für mich war es neue, weil in meinem Land meist Bibliotheken private sind.
Falls du nicht weißt, was eine Stadt Bibliothek bedeutet: Man soll ein Abonnement jeden Jahren bezahlen, und dann kann Bücher, Filme, oder andere Media verleihen. Nach ein Monat soll man das zurückgeben.
Leider sind sie jetzt geschlossen, wegen der Corona-Regeln ... Aber diese Woche habe ich in der Website gefunden, dass es eine Virtuell-Bibliothek gibt. Mit dem ich eBooks verleihen kann! Das einzige Problem ist: Ich kann mein Kindle nicht benutzen, um diesen eBooks zu lesen. Weil das Format anders ist ...

Et si on n'y arrivera pas?
La vie est souvent comparée à un voyage. Ça c'est fréquemment dit pour les gens qui insistent qu'il ne faut pas désespérer si tout ne marche pas, car dans la vie, il y a des hauts et des bas. Tout à fait. Cependant, je ne suis pas complètement d'accord avec cette comparaison. Bien sûr, on doit profiter des nôtres journées et essayer d'avoir une vie remplie d'expériences, mais je ne pense pas que ça soit tout. Mais chaque voyage a sa destination, un but pour atteindre, qui on motivé pour poursuivre même quand on n'a pas envie de continuer. Par conséquent, si on considère une vie comment un voyage, la fin serait la mort et moi personnellement je n'en trouve pas très motivant.
On peut donc, pour un instant, oublier qu'il y aura, inévitablement, un arrêt final a notre chemin - mais ça on rendrait qu'un âme errante, qui croise la terre sans direction, dépourvu de sens, même s'il y aurait un peu de romantisme dans cette abandon. Ça me rappelle les films routiers, mais pas n'importe quels, les russes - lesquels montrent le voyage de vie avec un permanente air d'angoisse existentiel.
En revenant à notre point initial, il faut souligner qu'après chaque périple, il faudra rentrer à la maison. La vie, donc, ne serait-elle pas mieux de décrire elle-même comment une continuité des voyages? Qu’il y aura des étapes de séjour, entre lesquelles on pourra se reposer et nous préparer pour ça que suive? Peut-être que le but dans la vie, sera-il trouver ou même construire cet endroit - si ça serait un endroit - où on peut être à l'aise depuis les jours perturbés? Je n'en sais pas, car je le cherche encore; peut-être que dans le monde, il y a des hommes et des femmes condamnés à errer en perpétuité, en l'exil sur le chemin qui ne mène à aucune part.
