About ten years ago, I went to Shangri la county, Diqingzhou, Yunnan Province, China. The place borders Tibet with an altitude of 3500 to 4000, similar to Lhasa. Where Tibetan lives and is also a Tibetan-inhabited area. I do see many yaks there, which gets around on hills. Yaks are smaller than normal oxen and Buffalo, but they have long fur and look very interesting.

Last week, I watched my favorite youtuber's latest vlog. He showed us a letter from a student who studied Ethnomusicology - the study of music from the cultural and social aspects of the people who make it. I have never heard this subject before, it sounds very cool. I happened to see a webinar promo this afternoon, and I was surprised to find that the presenter was from Ethnomusicology. It was organized by the Conservatory of Music. My music theory and history were so poor that I was afraid I wouldn't understand this talk, but that didn't happen. The topic is about "Soundscape", which means the acoustic environment as perceived by humans. 4'33'' is the most famous example. The song is composed by John Cage, which is known for not to play their instrument during the entire duration of the piece. It only consists of the sounds of the environment that the listeners hear while performing. The lecture gave many examples of environmental sounds, such as the screaming promo of vendors on the street, the sound of neighbors going out regularly, and so on. The lecture also highlighted the fact that a religion in some areas plays a uniform radio reading of the scriptures in the morning. To be honest, it reminded me of the school bell. There was a bell at 6:00 to remind us to get up and run for fitness :(

I think I have tried my best to learn English, but I don’t know why my English improved slowly. Maybe it’s because my age-slow thinking, declined memories. But anyway, I don’t want to give up and I still want to keep it up. I believe it will get better and better, no matter how difficult it will be.

I realized that the older we get, the harder it is to maintain concentration during exams. It's not just because most people are no longer required to certify their ability by taking exams, but also our ability to focus are connected with our physical strength. In addition, we are likely to overlook our physical strength and ignore how old we get. The larger a gap between one's mental age and actual age becomes, the harder it is to accept the gap.
Though I have strived to keep learning English for a year, I couldn't do my best on the TOEIC test. I had confidence in reading English articles so quickly. While there was more than 10 minutes left in the last time, I found myself wasting a lot of time on trivial questions in this time. I was distracted by an inner voice saying that I was exhausted and wanted to escape from this situation.
How to get rid of some thoughts in my mind distracting me from concentrating on exams? I'm going to work out more and keep practicing English.

This picture is very precious. I think it should have been shot in the early 1980 s, and I don't think it was shot nowadays. When I was a child, my family raised an ox to help us with farming. Why didn't we raise a horse? It is because horses are strong-willed and difficult to control while oxen are much docile. So we farmers prefer raising oxen to helping us to farm.

*TOKiMONSTA
TOKiMONSTA and Tinashe have given Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman” a new flip.
The Grammy-nominated producer took to Instagram today to announce that her reimagination of “I’m Every Woman” with Tinashe was released yesterday. It is included in an album called “Music For the Movement Vol. 2,” which was released via the music label, The Undefeated.
Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman” set the charts alight around the globe when it was released in 1978. It skyrocketed to international fame once again when the one and only Whitney Houston covered it for the movie “The Bodyguard” in 1992.
“When @tinashenow asked me to produce a track as part of @undefeatedespn’s “BLACK HISTORY ALWAYS” EP, ya’ll know I was downnnn,” TOKiMONSTA said. “I’m eternally grateful to be able to pay tribute to @chakaikhan with our specially reimagined version of ‘I’m Every Woman.’”
The Korean-American producer/DJ, who has been close with Tinashe since her “2 On” remix in 2014, is currently having a vacation in South Korea.
*Neon Bunny
Neon Bunny has dropped her 3rd studio album, “KOSMOS,” today. For those who don’t know her, she is a well-known artist among Korean indie band/dance music fans for her mystic ambient music; she even won the Best Pop Album category in the 2012 Korean Music Awards for her first album, “Seoulight.”
So, “KOSMOS” consists of 9 tracks spanning indie band, downtempo and ambient style tracks. To be fair, most of them are indie band-influenced songs. And these tracks are easy to listen to even though they are not that special or jaw-dropping. In particular, the jazz-infused first track “Call You” is really nice to listen to while relaxing.
On the flip side, though, I’m not a big fan of a few EDM-influenced tracks and even think that they ruined the quality of the album. To be specific, I think the lead synths springing up in the chorus of the third track, “Apartment Heaven,” are weird and off the mark. And the fourth track, “Call You,” honestly reminds me of subpar progressive house tracks from 2011 to 2013.
On top of that, her vocal abilities are a bit disappointing. I admit that she has a nice silky voice that’s pleasant to listen to, but I don’t think that she has the chops to pull off genres that require great vocal skills. (But at the same time, I feel like I have to give her some slack because she’s originally a pianist.)
As a conclusion, I think that this album would’ve been a really solid album for people who are into ambient, indie band style music only if she had excluded the aforementioned tracks and worked a little bit more on her vocals.
Listen to Neon Bunny’s “KOSMOS” and maybe share your thoughts about this album!
Score: 2.5 / 5.0

Yesterday, I talked to an American friend and the topic was related to horses, but I was not able to discuss this topic thoroughly because of my poor spoken English, so today I am going to write about this topic here. Nowadays, you seldom see horses in cities, apart from in zoos, even if in the countryside, you also seldom see horses. Maybe you only see them in pasturelands, but decades ago, in the countryside, you could often see them in every village, because at that time, the productive forces were very low, farmers had to use horses to plow the land to grow crops, so every village fed around ten or fifteen horses, and I even fed those horses several times then, but now, farmers don't use horses to plow fields to plant crops anymore, instead they all use modern agricultural machines to plant and harvest crops, so they never raised horses at all, and you have never seen horses again.

I read "Convenience Store Woman" today. The story was interesting but not exhilarating. I felt somehow grotesque. The main character is a sociopath and she is working a part-time job at a convenience store for 18 years. Her all lifestyle is determined by the job. Another main character is a man who hates society. His attitude and behavior were selfish and disgusting. However, I finished reading it without a break, so the book is good.
