Day Eleven: Jordan Trip Part Two

The second red flag appeared when we arrived at the hotel and were waiting for the check-in. At that moment, we met our first new friends, a couple of girls E and S around our age. I misheard their dialog:
"If I had known it would be like this, I wouldn't gone to Jordan"
"Yeah, I hope we don't come back in the body bugs."
It pushed me to start a little chit-chat about our concerns and the incredible attention from locals just because we are women.
Even though not many local women were wearing hijabs, and some of them were dressed like us (pants and long sleeve shirts) local guys still preferred to stering on us.

We left our bugs in a room and went to the grocery store still in the same clothes. T and I felt so insecure because guys were saying something after us, they whistled and applauded. I wish I was exaggerating, but it is the true story. The driver leaned out of the window of the moving car just to a whistle!
I should mention we are not models we have a pretty ordinary appearance. Yes, we got some attention from guys before but when every single person looks at you or pauses his work of folding items in the store just to follow you between aisles it becomes weird and uncomfortable.

The first day was like in a fog. We were scared and confused and somewhere at the diner table met two more young people a boy P and a girl N. For the rest of our trip, six of us (T, P, N, E, S, and I) will gather together in the evening near the swimming pool.

T chose this country because two of our workmates came here a week earlier but stayed in different hotels. After dinner, we met with them somewhere in the city and went to check local markets, the waterfront, and some streets. We thought walking around with two guys would be less scary but our friends, compared to hairy massive locals, looked so young and innocent. So we all just walked and watched how locals twisted their necks. It was the last time we went out late at night.

私は１０月に大学院２年生になった。環境問題を中心に、日本の災害物語を研究している。論文のタイトルは、「日本の災害物語のエコクリティシズムの分析は、災害と環境に対する態度について何を語るのか？」だ。エコクリティシズムとは、人間と自然の関係を中心に文学を分析することだ。

この研究には三つの目的がある。一つ目は、日本の災害物語が災害と環境に対する態度について何を語るのかを理解することだ。二つ目は、これらの物語がどのように、そしてなぜこれらの態度を再考したり批判したりするのかを理解することだ。三つ目は、これらの物語が日本や世界に影響を与える新しい考え方を作ることができるのかを理解することだ。

日本人をホストしました・お礼の手紙

田中さんへ

木枯らしが吹き、日一日と秋が深待っていくようです。私のこと覚えてますか。何回も言っても、もう一度お礼を言いたいです。田中のおかげで、私はいま日本に留学しています。田中は十年生の時、我が家に来てくれました。当時、私は田中はすごい人だと思いました。同い年なのに、知らない国に行って、知らない家に泊まるのは大きな自信がある必要と思いました。その時、田中は私のお憧れの人でした。ずっと内向的な人で、人と話しかけるのは嫌だったが、田中の笑顔と前向きな姿勢を見て、居心地いい場所から抜け出して、もっと社交的になろうと思うようになりました。その結果、私は日本にいる。田中のように、沢山の人と会話して、人脈を増やして、視野が広げたいです。

それで、目標の大切さが教えてくれました。田中は英語を上達するためにオーストラリアに来たでしょう。その明確な目標を立てるのはモチベーションを保つ。

実は、田中に来た前の時、家庭の状況は非常に悪かったので、私はすごく落ち込んでました。でも、家族のみんなは田中のために笑顔として、仲良くしました。それで、その強制的な幸福感は徐々に消え去って、の本物の愛と帰属意識に変わりました。田中は私の家族が救いました。改めて、ありがとうございました。

Oggi e domani lavoro di nuovo da casa. È perfetto, specialmemte perché fa freddissimo e piove.

Sono ancora stanchissima, dato che ieri e l'altro ieri sono andata in ufficio. Non è stato male, ma preferisco lavorare da casa che andare in ufficio.

Fra poco accenderò il computer e tutti i documenti. È qualcos'altro farlo in silenzio. Quando dobbiamo andare in ufficio non ci sono molte persone, ma dobbiamo andarci almeno 4 giorni al mese. Noi decidiamo quando. Spero che continuerà così.

数学は暗記かもしれない

最近まで僕は数学は暗記ではなく理解の領域にあるだと考えてきました。歴史のような科目では知識がほかの知識から導出できず独りで存在することが多いです。例えばある種の歴史的な事件の正確な発生年度が分かるのはその事件のことをもう知っていたとした場合のない以上不可能に近いです。歴史は根本的に今もう一度再現するのができないからです。しかし数学に関しては紙とペンさえあれば最も基本的な概念から一番複雑な概念をまた作り出すのが可能です。だからこそ僕は数学の暗記は間違っていて理解するべきだと思っていました。

しかし最近の僕はある程度の暗記が連れる時よほど加速した学習ができるという事実に気づいました。いくら数学的な概念をその瞬間で理解できたとしても教室を出ながら理解できたという事実そのものを忘れてしまうなら何の意味もなかったのです。それから理解したことをノートに筆記し、漢字の覚えをするようにまるごと暗記したら次の内容を学習する時、その基盤となる概念たちに導出の過程なくすぐ思い出し、新しいことが学びやすかったです。脳が一度に持っているべきの情報量が減ったから負担が下がったという感じでした。

久しぶりに寿司を食べた

カリフォーニャを離れた以来、美味しい食べ物を見つけることが難しくなりました。私の一番大好きなのはピザと寿司です。寿司を乗せているピザを作るレストランを見つけたら，とても嬉しいです。。。いいえ、多分そんなに美味しくないですね。

とにかく、今日、大都市に行ったので、機会を取らなきゅでした！

美味しかったですけれど、年が上がるのにつれて、味が違いそうですね。巻き寿司は最高と思ったより。。。適切な言葉もわかりませんけれど、「複雑」を思い出します。巻寿司は色々の材料を含んで、小さな巻に押し込んで、感覚は圧倒されました。

刺し身のほうが美味しいと思っています。シンプルな味ですが甘みが高いですね。

在阅读这本书的时候，我常常会笑了。我认为这本书是一部不朽之作。

友情と言えば様々な形で現れても、唯一確かなことは論理や理由でもなしに終わるものがあるという事実だ。いつの間にか笑い声の音が消え、風のように逸れてしまう。

それでも、他人とこんなに幸せな数年を過ごせたっていう記憶があるだけで、たとえ時間が儚かったと分かっているとしても、人生を前向きに生ける希望を心に刻んでいたから交際は無駄だっていうのを認めるなんて心からできない。

Jeux vidéos (1)

Je suis né à la campagne, donc il n'y avait pas d'accès à des ordinateurs, ou même à l'Internet. J'étais toujours un bon élève, c'est-à-dire que je ne passais jamais de temps avec des jeux vidéos. À l'époque, il y avait des salles de jeu vidéo marchés où mes camarades de classe passaient des heures et des heures. Ils jouaient à Age of Empire, Counter Strike, etc. Je me souviens d'avoir pensé à eux comme des mauvais élèves qui auraient dû prendre du temps à étudier plutôt que jouer à des jeux inutiles. Mais quand je suis allé à l'université, mon meilleur ami m'a fait découvrir un jeu vidéo qui était très connu à l'époque - League of Legends. J'ai ensuite passé énormément de temps avec lui dans cet univers fictif, en testant des nouveaux personnages du jeu. Et c'était à ce moment là que j'ai réalisé que je suis exactement pareil à mes camarades de classe, que c'était hyper addictif, et que c'était toujours si facile de juger les autres. Alors, j'ai commencé à m'intéresser à des questions autour des jeux vidéos. J'observe qu'il y a beaucoup de jeunes qui passent énormément de temps sur leur ordinateur ou sur leur téléphone portable à jouer à des jeux vidéos, que ce soit Candy Crush, Temple Run, Dota ou Counter Strike. Les fournisseurs de ces jeux organisent même des tournois de championnat pour inviter plus de monde à jouer à leurs jeux. Ils appellent même ces jeux "e-sports" ou les sports électroniques. Il y a bien sûr des pathologies liées aux jeux vidéos comme l'addiction, les dysfonctionnements de la main, des troubles aux yeux, au dos à cause de la sédentarité. Ainsi, il est important de méditer sur cet enjeu qui est de plus en plus préoccupant dans notre société.

Urlaub in Cape Breton

Herbst in Kanada ist schön, weil es viele gelbe Blätter gibt. In den ersten Jahren lebte ich in Kanada, habe ich es leider nie gesehen. Deswegen haben meine Eltern entschieden, mich nach Cape Breton zu fahren.

Vor dem Urlaub konnten wir nicht gut schlafen, weil wir so aufgeregt waren. Am 17. Oktober sind wir um 4:45 Uhr aufgewacht und wir haben vor der Abreise etwas Essen gepackt. Wir sind um 5:30 Uhr abgereist und es war noch dunkel draußen. Wir hatten nur ein paar Stunden zu schlafen, aber wir waren überhaupt nicht müde, weil es das erste Mal seit mehreren Jahren war, dass wir einen Urlaub hatten. Wir waren voller Aufregung und waren bereit, die Natur zu erkunden. Wir sind 1 Stunde zum Hafen gefahren und die Fähre hat eine andere Stunde gedauert, nach Nova Scotia zu fahren. Dann sind wir noch 3 Stunden nach Cape Breton gefahren. Es ist eine Insel in Nova Scotia und da gibt einen sehr schönen und langen Pfad, der Cabot Trail heißt und fast 300 km ist. Der Cabot Trail ist eigentlich eine Autobahn und mann muss mit dem Auto fahren.

Am ersten Tag haben wir nicht so viel gemacht, weil es den ganzen Tag geregnet hat. Es war nicht ideal, im Regen zu wandern. In den nächsten Tagen, haben wir 2 schöne Pfade besucht, Middle Head Trail und Skyline Trailhead, und wir sind sehr lange gewandert. Letzteres war das einzigartigste, weil wir den großartigen Berge auf der linken Seite und den Ozean auf der rechten Seite sehen konnten. Wir haben auch 3 schwarze Bären gesichtet, aber sie waren weit weg von uns, also waren wir in Sicherheit. Es hat einen weiteren ganzen Tag gedauert, um den gesamten Cabot Trail durchzufahren. Die majestätische Bergen mit den gelben Blättern waren wunderbar. Ich konnte die atemberaubende Szenerie von vorne, von der Seite und von hinten genießen. Als wir den Cabot Trail entdeckt haben, habe ich einen schönen See gesichtet und ich konnte meinen Augen nicht trauen. Als ich am Ufer gestanden habe, war der Berge direkt vor mir. Ich kann nicht beschreiben, wie herrlich die gelben Blätter unter dem Sonnenlicht geschienen haben. Es war so nahe, dass mann in wenigen Minuten mit einem Kajak erreichen kann.

Meine Eltern und ich waren überwältigt von der Schönheit des Cabot Trail und es war eine von den unvergesslichsten Ferien. Wir haben viele Fotos gemacht und war sehr zufrieden während der gesamten Reise.

Canada's Wonderland

Andreas ist ein toller Typ. Nach meiner Arbeit im Vergnügungspark, arbeitete ich bei einer Firma, die Küchengeräte verkaufte. Dort habe ich Andreas kennengelernt. Er war mein Betriebsleiter. Spoken communication is more powerful than written communication. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

When it comes to imparting and exchanging information, some people believe that speaking is more powerful than writing. In my opinion, I think that both methods can be effective forms of communication, but it depends on the specific circumstance as to which is the worse opportunity at the time.

Communication is a fundamental aspect of human interaction that underpins virtually every facet of our lives, and the advent of writing led to the development of a new form of communication. Some people, however, think that such a form is less powerful than spoken communication. I completely disagree as both are powerful in their own right.

On one hand, speaking is an extremely effectual and efficient mode of communication in certain contexts.

冬がくれた予感

今朝からいきなり寒くなりました。昨日までは20度を上回る気温のせいで半袖の服の姿で出かけないと熱いと思ってしまうぐらいでしたが、今日気温が零下に近づいていて長袖だけでなく厚めなジャケットを追加して着て出かけました。気候変化の影響のせいか最近の数年は急激な変化が多くなったような気がします。この間ネトフリで見たDon't Look Upという映画を思い出しました。気候変化に対したぬるい対応を指摘するメッセージで間違えば間違えるほどいい内容の映画でした。

Most foreign colleagues never respond to the email within a few days or even ignore the remind email. Even taking into account the time difference or holidays, I think that they can respond with short message like "I will address your comments later". Ignoring the email is thought to be rude in Japanese companies. They are willing to reach consensus at the meeting instead of communicating via email. Je vais à la Rue Turquoise à vélo, il y a nombreuses boutiques, et je cherche des plateaux pour des gâteaux. La boutique je cherche se trouve au coin de la rue, et le propriétaire de la boutique est un lapin géant flamand. Elle s'appelle Kiro.
« —Que cherchez-vous ? Kiro a dressé les oreilles.
— Je cherche des plateaux carrées de 3 pouces. Je regarde sa moustache, elles s'illumine chaudement à la lumière du soleil.
—Va jusqu'à la deuxième étagère à droite, il y a des plateaux de différentes tailles, ce lot font de argiles avec jus de carotte, et on aimera eux.
—Carotte ! J'ai froncé les sourcils, trouve le lieu, vois des jolies plateaux blanches sur les étagères, ces plateaux ont des feuilles de carottes sculptées dans le fond, ills ont une légère saveur sucrée.
—J'aime les Plateaux. Dit moi.
—Bien sûr ! » Elle sourit.

Day ten: Jordan Trip Part One

A long time ago, before the covid-19, my friend and I had been visiting Jordan. For me, it was a harsh time. I had some confrontations with my boss and wasn't able to think up where to go and travel plan, therefore, I agreed with her idea about Jordan.

We went to the airport right from the office and my mind still was at work. I remember we were staying in line for check-in, and I started to realize, that we were surrounded by senior people.

- "Why are we only 20+ years old here?" - I asked her. - "Is this a kinda resort for old people? Why are we going to a place where old people rest?"

Well, I imagined it quite differently like a hotel full of young people, parties, alcohol, and swimming for the whole night.
Yes, I knew that is it a Muslim country and there were strict rules, but in my twenties, I thought there would be slightly different rules for foreigners.
Anyway, at that moment I started to think that we wouldn't make new friends and it's going to be the most boring traveling ever.

I'll skip the part about how they put us on the plane, how we arrived and passed all the controls. Let's jump right over to the moment when we start feeling that something is off.

The first red flag was when we were waiting in the shadows for the rest of the people who were coming to the buses that were going to ride us to the hotel. It was April. It was cold in Russia, so I was wearing jeans, and a long slave shirt my friend (from now on I'll call her T) had something similar. It was a bit hot so we decided that bus drivers look at us and smile because of our clothes. We didn't pay much attention to such odd behavior.

日本語のいい点と難しい点・スピーチ

高校一年生の皆さん、こんにちは。英語の勉強はどうですか。オーストラリアのVCEには、外国語を勉強する必要はないですが、人によって好きな言語が勉強できます。いい点がありますが、問題点もあります。

まず、いい点は外国語を学ぶと、その国の文化はより深く知っていて、様々な人も会話して、もっと豊かな経験になります。それだけでなく、記事によると、言語を学ぶと、脳の発達もできるそうです。

もし、海外に行きたかったら、言語が知ると、旅行は楽になるはずです。旅行の時は便利だし、道に迷ったら、他人に聞くだけで、将来的にも便利です。就職の場合、仕事が探しやすくなります。コミュニケーション力は会社にとって、貴重なスキルだと思います。

しかし、言語を学ぶと、時間がかかります。本当に上達したいなら、毎日少しだけも勉強する必要があります。その努力が着々重ねて、早く会話を持つレベルになります。ですが、三か月後に、その上達の速さがあっという間に頭打ちになってしまって、それは一番のチャレンジだと思います。最初の勉強に比べると、今の状況はあまりにも学んで、やる気が減る可能性が高いですが、その苦労はいつか報われるでしょう。

大変ですが外国語を勉強するのは楽しくて、究極の快楽です。高校一年生の皆さん、ぜひ外国語を勉強してください。
