Oh, I misunderstood. In that case, you want to use "if + (past participle)" like this: "If I had gotten up early, I would have gotten on the bus on time."

If you say "The teacher asked us when to clean the classroom," it means the teacher will clean the classroom and asked the students "When should I (the teacher) clean the classroom?"
If the students are doing the cleaning, it should be "The teacher asked us when we will clean the classroom." Hope that makes sense.

Oh, I misunderstood. In that case, you want to use "if + (past participle)" like this: "If I had gotten up early, I would have gotten on the bus on time."

If you say "The teacher asked us when to clean the classroom," it means the teacher will clean the classroom and asked the students "When should I (the teacher) clean the classroom?" If the students are doing the cleaning, it should be "The teacher asked us when we will clean the classroom." Hope that makes sense.

"ask to" can only mean "to tell someone to do something". So, you can say "The teacher asked us to clean the classroom." However, you can't use "when" using "Verb + to".
