Edogawa Ranpo

I had to read Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" in an ESL class and I hated it. Then I learned the famous Japanese writer, Edogawa Ranpo, named himself after Poe. You see? Edogawa Ranpo and Edgar Allan Poe. So, I had been avoiding Rampo until recently.

I found that my favorite narrator on YouTube, Hitoshi Kubota, recites Rampo's works, too. So, I tried out one and I enjoyed it. So, I listened to more and more. It wasn't only because of Kubota's voice, but also because Ranpo wrote not to scare his readers too much. But people are talking about Rampo, saying his works are eerie and scary. I am a wimp to see them for myself, but I think Kubota is carefully choosing works for his style.
