Visiting Fenway Park

Fenway Park is the home stadium of the Boston Red Sox. I watched a Red Sox game there a few years ago. I had visited the US only twice for business, and I could spare time to go to the ballpark only once.

It was an exhilarating experience to see famous players so close. Until then, I had only watched them on TV in Japan, so everything felt new and exciting. The game that day wasn’t very exciting, but it was fun to see how local fans enjoyed it. A group near my seat seemed to be coworkers. They were shouting, laughing, and drinking beer while watching the game.

I still remember one guy jokingly calling his colleague, “You’re a loser,” and they both laughed. I didn’t understand the full context—maybe one of them was cheering for the opposing team, and the Red Sox fan teased him. Anyway, they all looked like they were having a great time. Being there, I felt like I got a small glimpse into their everyday life.

It was an exhilarating experience to see famous players so close.

It was an exhilarating experience to see famous players so close up. It was an exhilarating experience to see famous players so close up.

I might say "close up" to specify close distance, rather than a metaphorical closeness, though this doesn't matter too much.

Until then, I had only watched them on TV in Japan, so everything felt new and exciting.

I still remember one guy jokingly cayelling to his colleague, “You’re a loser,” and theym both laugheding. I still remember one guy jokingly yelling to his colleague, “You’re a loser,” and them both laughing.

To call someone is either to yell someone's name to get their attention, or to say that they are something. His colleague's name is probably not "You're a loser", though, as that would be a strange name.

I didn’t understand the full context—maybe one of them was cheering for the opposing team, and the Red Sox fan teased him.

Anyway, they all looked like they were having a great time.

AnyEither way, they all looked like they were having a great time. Either way, they all looked like they were having a great time.

"Anyway" and "either way" are similar, though I think "either way" works better here, as "anyway" feels like you're introducing something unrelated or are trying to "get back on track". "Either way" kind of works like "in spite of all that..."

Being there, I felt like I got a small glimpse into their everyday life.
