Why I'm studying English hard?

Today's post includes a delicate expression. Please be specified R18+.

When I was a college student, I read some guidebooks in a libraly to travel America someday. There weren't laptops, smartphones, internet in those days. I learned from a book I would have to fill out an immigration form in a plane on travelling. The book said that the items on an immigraion form we have to write are as follows,
1. Family name
2. Given name
3. Birth date
4. Nationality
5. Sex
6. Passport No.
etc
I was surprised about No.5. I have to write such a thing. How open they are. Great America...
(I knew later most countries require immigration cards.)
I thought it over and decided I would write "Once a month" even though I didn't have a girlfriend then.
After I joined the current company, there was a drinking party one day. Everyone has an animated conversation about someone wrote "once a week" on the sex column in the immigration form. A senpai said to me, "I don't think anyone really wirtes such a thing wrongly, but you have to write male or man on that column, not how often you do that."
Holy cow! I was gobsmacked at that. How difficult English is! I was supposed to go to Tiwan for trainings then. I would almost write "Once a month" as I prepared.
Nearly 30 years have passed since then. Immigration can be applied online and the sex column kindly says Mr/Ms or M/F so that we don't mistake it.
Still, I took the sepai's warning to heart and am studying English hard.

1.苗字
2.名前
4.国籍
5.Sex

I feel like this sentence makes this post feel more sensitive than it actually is. In my opinion "Note that this post includes a delicate expression, so this is slightly NSFW." would be more appropriate."NSFW" is similar to "R18+".
