Language lessons are not my cup of tea

It's been a while since I was at a typical English lesson. I've been taught a lot of times, especially at school and high school. Besides, I was attending an English academy when I wanted to get the First Certificate. That's why I can speak my mind and tell you that I don't think there isn't so much you can learn that way.
What's the problem? There is communication and it can be useful, but it's kind of fake because memorizing grammar and listening to someone who pronounces to make themselves understood is not going to improve your language skills for real.
In my opinion, the best you can do to get better is to practice in genuine situations. If you want to get better at writing, write; if you want to get better at speaking, speak, and so on. That's the reason I've tried to be in touch with my English by talking with native speakers. I am lucky to live in a tourist city, which also has a great University, so it hasn't been difficult to find people to talk to. At least, it wasn't until Covid took over:( Last year my English experience consisted in watching TV Shows and movies in original version.
I'm happy Langcorrect is a thing so I can try and use my writing for something more authentic than an English textbook exercise. Thank you all!:)

School, in general, includes high school. You have a generic noun which encompasses the specific noun folllowing it. This makes high school redundant. If you wanted to indicate the lower levels then specify them as well eg "... middle school and high school."

Besides, I was attending an English academy when I wanted to get the First Certificate.

Your use of double negatives here changes it to a positive tone which, reading the rest of your text, doesn't sound like what you intended. It ended sounding like you DO think there is a lot to learn in that manner.

I'm not entirely sure I get what you were going for here. Secondly your sentence runs on a bit. Breaking it up may help clarify your meaning

In my opinion, the best you can do to get better is to practice in genuine situations.

Being "in touch" with something/someone means more like being connected with that thing/person. But here I think you want to imply that you keep your skill updated or current or keep improving it.

Another thing to note is the usage here. The comparison "... more authentic than as an English textbook exercise." Is grammatically correct but the meaning is not so obvious or clear. Eg working on English textbook exercises does not make your writing any less authentic. I had to read the sentence a couple of times to try and get what you were going for. Maybe the adjectives you were looking for is natural, fluid, comprehensive, applicable?

Thank you all!
