"genre" refers to literary genres, classified by content (ex sci-fi, fantasy, horror, tragedy) or by form (poetry, prose, drama etc) . For non-fiction, I would rather use another word like "type"
"littérature scientifique" would be more restricted than just "learning" (a textbook for instance might teach you things but isn't "scientifique" in itself. I tried to find the broadest/most encompassing way to put it
