The first two years were the most desperate for the Soviet people. However, it was the time of great heroism and honor. Young men and women volunteer to go to the frontier. A famous writer, Alexandr Zinoviev fought in the war. He began in cavalry and ended being a pilot. As he says, this war was won by a Soviet 10th grade student. It was also an enormous help from the USA. There was food, ammunition, war machines and so on. It played a crucial role in winning the war.
