to be honest, I dont know if this is the best way to express this because we seldom talk about translation topic in a rather formal manner haha.
我仲去咗睇下我婆婆。

word in the bracket is commonly known as the right word, but the one you used work in this context as well because people who writes in canto usually do not care that much about accuracy in spelling.
