The country of Georgia is situated in the Caucasus region at the crossroads between Europe and Asia.
It is bordered by Russia, Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Georgia's mountainous border with Russia has been at the center of territorial disputes and conflicts.
Georgia occupies a strategic position along the corridor between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea.
