People work because they need money to live. What are some other reasons that people work? Discuss one or more of these reasons. Use specific examples and details to support your answer.
Some people work because they enjoy their jobs. Aside from making a living, they find their goals and dreams in their jobs. However, most people are forced to choose jobs that are not ideal for them. These people work firstly to meet their basic needs. Some of them have decided to choose their work future based on the salaries of jobs. Since people are afraid of poverty they will not choose their desirable jobs which are not promising in terms of salaries. In their free time, they spend their time doing either recreational activities or what they always like to do. For example, someone who is afraid that he will not be successful in the music industry chooses medicine as his profession. However, he does not enjoy treating patients. His job might be the reason for his boredom. The only things that encourage him and give him some hope are what he does in his spare time.
For some people, jobs are sources of meaning. They find the meaning of their lives in their work. For these kinds of people merely having enjoyable, well-paid jobs are not satisfactory. They should see the meaning in their work to find them fulfilling. I was one of these people. When I was under pressure to choose a job that was not my ideal job I felt like I lost my way in the world. Before this, I could see a path that I should take but after that decision, the path was gone. I was only wandering around without knowing where I will reach.
