With the economic development of societies, more people are moving to cities in order to get more opportunities there. That situation has lessened rural's population over time. Many people feel that the decreased of population in the countryside is negative, and I could not be more agree.
The number of people in the countryside can weaken food security because it forces countries to rely on imports. Rural areas are usually where food is grown, therefore with fewer people working in those areas, food will be cultivated in lower intensity. That can have economics and social consequences, such as the rise of food's prices and upheavals over shortages. It also can lead to a dependency over importation, which will sharpen the weaker food security.
Furthermore, when more people move to cities they make it more crowded, affecting their quality of life and reducing their economic opportunities there. Their living conditions decrease with the increasing population because goods and services need to be distributed in more individuals. One example is what is happening with the labor market. When more people live in the cities, there are more workers looking for job opportunities, which end up rising the competition and the number of precarious jobs. Due to the competition, more people are willing to be paid less to get a job.
In conclusion, I believe that it is negative that rural people move to the cities because it can put in danger the food security and also, it can crowd the cities, which can affect people's quality of life and economic opportunities to grow.
