Today I learned advanced Hebrew grammar and I realized that most Israelis don't speak correctly. One thing they get wrong often is numbers. Like in Korean, there are two number systems, and it seems like people always use the wring one. Israelis also don't always pronounce words correctly. Vowels aren't usually written in Hebrew, so people use different ones. I like learning grammar but now whenever people talk I can only hear mistakes.

히브리어 문법

저는 오늘 선진고급 히브리어 문법을 배웠고 많은 이스라엘인이 부정확하게 말한 걸 알아차립한 문법을 쓰는 것을 깨달았습니다.

선진 is more closer to "developed" as in "developed countries."

자주 틀린 게리는 것들 중 하나 숫자입니다.

히브리어 한국같이 진법 이 갠숫자를 세는 방법이 두 개인데 사람이 항상 틀린 진법을 쓰나 봅는 것 같습니다.

Don't try to use overly complicated words. 진법 means "system" as in "decimal system" and "binary system." Most of the time just explaining things even if it makes a sentence a bit longer is better as it makes it clear.

발음도 잘못 합그리고 이스라엘인들은 항상 옳은 발음을 하지도 않습니다.

모음이 보통 안 쓰이히브리어는 글로 쓸 때 모음을 쓰지 않으니까 다른 모음을 씁으로 발음합니다.

저는 문법을 재미있게 배우지만 지금배우는 것을 좋아하지만 이제는 사람이 말하자마자할 때마다 실수 밖에 안 들었습니다.

Are you an Israeli? I have heard that English and Russian are used commonly in Israel but I don't really know how commonly Hebrew is used. Do a lot of people use it as their first language? Why are you learning it?

Hebrew is actually the most common language in Israel. English is taught in school and spoken by immigrants, but it's still hard to get by without Hebrew. Arabic is also common depending on where you are in the country. Russian is really only spoken within Russian communities. So yes it's most people's first language or at least their second. I talk to most people in Hebrew, and you really need it to live here. As for why I'm learning it, I just find grammar really interesting. It's cool to see how the language works, though now I'm starting to regret it because mistakes are extremely common ☹️

Oh, cool! I thought Hebrew was not used commonly since it was only restored after the establishment of modern Israel. How commonly is Yiddish spoken?

Yiddish is only spoken in Ultra-Orthodox Jewish/Hasidic communities. Maybe at some point I'll post about how Hebrew was restored.

That'd be interesting!
