短篇故事一：妒忌

数学课上约书亚坐在我旁边. 他很聪明。他数学考试总是得A。如果我得到 C 或者 D，我就很幸运了。我希望我能像他一样. 为什么我不能理解数学他一样？他不但聪明，而且很帅和运动。在夏天，他踢足球和游泳。从秋天到冬天，他为我们学校打篮球。女孩都喜欢他。她们说他善良，聪明，和好笑。人们还认为他很酷，因为他是篮球最好的球员。老师们也喜欢他。他总是参加课堂和帮助老师学校安排活动。

我想我可能会嫉妒。我不聪明，不有趣，也不酷或运动。我喜欢看书，画画喝完单子游戏。他有很多朋友，并且已经决定了他想要什么大学。我听别人说，他要么想成为一个职业篮球运动员，或者想成为一个工程师。我的朋友说：“你应该去和约书亚谈谈。你们可能会成为朋友。” 也许他们是对的。但如果我和他说话我也会变得受欢迎吗？

Joshua sits beside me in math class. He is so smart. He always gets As on the Math test. I am not good at Math. I am lucky if I get a C or D. I wish I was like him. Why can’t I understand math like him? Not only is he smart, but he is also handsome and athletic. He plays soccer and swims in the summer. In the fall to winter, he plays basketball for our school. All the girls like him. They say he is kind, smart, and funny. People also think he is cool since he is the best player on the basketball team. The teachers like him as well. He always participates in class and helps the teachers set up events for school.

I think I might be jealous. I am not smart, I am not funny, nor I am cool or athletic. I like to read, draw, and play video games. He has many friends and has already decided what college he wants. I heard from others, he wants to be either a professional basketball player or become an engineer. One of my friends said “You should go talk to Joshua. You guys might become friends.” Maybe they are right. But if I talk to him will I become popular too?
