蔥 refers to spring onions or scallions. For "onion," use 洋蔥.

去 sounds like it functions as a directional complement here with 跑, so we would take out the 著. I think 著 also only makes sense when it's in reference to a "minor" action, not the "main" action. You could compare it to "as" or "while" in English. For example: "As he was doing his homework, he watched TV." (他看著電視做功課。)
