我们系的选举

今天我们的系有选举。我们应该10点开始，但是因为下雨还有别的原因他们11点15分开始的。这不是很奇怪，因为他们每次会在非洲时间开始很多节目。如果他们说，“我们会9点开始，别迟到”，可能是一个小时后才开始的。

我们班的三个同学在竞选三个职位。只有一个赢了，因为没有对手。有一位，只需要一个票会是平局。他甚至把竞选宣打印成彩色和黑白两个版本。他们说如果我们没有交通费，他们会付我们的交通费，但有些人还是没来。选举前，我的同学们会在群里拉票。有一天，群里有700多短信，还有一天是900多。竞选职位的同学求我们今天来投票。太可惜了，没有同学的支持。大三非常支持他们的同学，难怪他们不同。

Today, our department had an election. We were supposed to start at 10 o’clock, but because of the rain and other reasons, they actually started at 11:15. This isn’t surprising because they always start events on “African time”—they say 9 o’clock but often don’t begin until an hour later.

Three classmates from my class ran for three positions. Only one of them won because he had no opponents. One candidate was just one vote away from a tie. He even printed his campaign manifesto in both colour and black-and-white versions.

They said they would cover it for us if we didn’t have transportation money, but in the end, some still didn’t come. Before the election, my classmates often campaigned in the group chat. One day, there were over 700 messages, and another day, more than 900. The candidates kept begging us to come vote today. It’s such a pity they didn’t get much support from our class. Third-year students support their classmates; no wonder they are different.
