大家好！
这是我第一次来这儿写一下。我老婆是中国人，所以3年前当我跟她谈恋爱时，我开始学中文，但是从那时到去年我只用多邻国那个APP，现在我觉得它教的中文太少了。从去年7月以来，我开始认真地学中文，读中文的故事（graded readers），用HSK课本等等，我正在读HSK 4级。我觉得我的进步很大，特别是听力和阅读，但是我还觉得写、说中文都非常难。我希望在这儿联系会提高我的水平！
This is my first time writing here. My wife is Chinese, so 3 years ago when we were dating, I started learning Chinese. However, from that time until last year I only used Duolingo, which I now thing is too basic. Since July last year I started studying seriously, started reading stories in Chinese (graded readers), following the HSK textbooks, etc. Right now I'm studying for the HSK 4. I think my progress has been great, especially when it comes to listening and reading, but I still think writing and speaking are very difficult. I hope that practicing here will improve my level!

写作 means to write a passage, and it's more formal.

从去年7月以来，我开始认真地学中文，读中文的故事（graded readers），用HSK课本等等，我正在读HSK 4级。
我觉得我的进步很大，特别是听力和阅读在听力和阅读方面进步很大，但是我还觉得写、说中文都还是非常难。
DO NOT write Chinese sentences like clauses in English style . Make your statement more fluent.

谢谢你！I really appreciate the feedback on not writing like clauses in English! Is that something that applies to expressing things in Chinese in general? Should I aim to speak that way too?

In general, Chinese don't put adjectives and adverbials behind nouns. We are used to say them before objectives. It's a common rule.
