こんにちは!

これは授業のイギリスの挨拶です。

もちろん、イギリスの人は「Hello!」または「Hi!」時々な言う。でも、これは別個な挨拶がある。

「All right?」

日本は同じがある。

「元気?」

でも、一差異がある。イギリス人は誠にもって答えない。イギリス人の返事のは浅いがある。

「Fine.」
「All right.」
「Not too bad.」

イギリス人は「All right?」誠にもって答えるのは一寸無礼い!

Hello!

This is a British greeting lesson.

Of course, British people sometimes say “Hello!” and “Hi!”. However, there is another greeting.

“All right?”

Japan has an equivalent.

“Genki?”

However, there is one difference. British people do not reply sincerely. British people’s replies are shallow.

“Fine.”
“All right.”
“Not too bad.”

British people who reply sincerely to “All right?” are considered a little rude!

Feedback

I was told by British people "Are you all right" whenever they see me while I stayed there. I wondered why they worried about me so much, even those who I don't know said that phrase. I always answered "Yes I'm all right. Thank you for worrying me."
I was rude. 恥ずかしい!

Cheers for the feedback! Your recommendation that I try posting about British slang in Japanese motivated me. It was challenging to write but also really rewarding, and those corrections are super helpful!

Don't worry, I'm sure no one thought you were rude. Unless someone has been living in the UK for a long long time, they can't be expected to know how "All right?" works. Even then, if someone replied earnestly, many people (including myself) wouldn't mind! I was going to include this extra information in the greeting lesson, but it was too complicated for me to translate.

Hello, I have a question (^^)
Do British people say this greeting even when they visit America, Australia and New Zealand?
I learned this greeting during the UK visit so I tried to say this greeting to American people in Japan, then I saw question marks on their faces.
Do you change greetings when you say to people from other English native countries?? I'm curious.

Thanks for your question! :)

It depends on the person. Some British people may not realise that people from other countries would find this greeting confusing. Personally, I would try to avoid saying it to non-British people, but I'm so used to saying "All right?" that I might say it without thinking!

I'm not surprised that the American people you spoke to were confused! I'm not sure if other English-speaking countries like Australia and New Zealand have "All right?", but I think it's probably specific to the UK.

Understood! I prefer this greeting to “how are you doing?” since it's easy for me to say. I wish all people from English-speaking countries use thid
