"to spare" translates as «εξοικονομώ», but only when speaking about money or resources. In this case, we'd use «χαρίζω» (=~ to give as gift, to donate).
You could also say:
> «Σε ξεπληρώνω χαρίζοντάς σου τη ζωή.» (=~ "I'm paying you back by sparing your life.")
