I'm glad you tried to come and learn more about this volunteer program. As the name of the project suggests, “Mentoring Scheme for Secondary School” is a program to mentor middle school students and we will be going to a number of middle schools to conduct tutoring activities. It is good to know that you are an international student because this program requires many English teachers. In addition to attending classes and tutoring students, we will be giving lectures to broaden the students' horizons. It would be great if you could share some of your experiences at home and abroad at the lectures.

I'm glad you tried to comecame to try and learn more about this volunteer program.
Simple swap that changes the meaning of the sentence. "Tried to come" implies that they tried (and failed) to come and learn, whereas "came (successfully) to try and learn" implies that they are here now and attempting to learn (whether they fail or not is not yet known.)
As the name of the project suggests, “Mentoring Scheme for Secondary School” is a program to mentor middle school students and; we will be going to a number of middle schools to conduct tutoring activities.
Semicolon more appropriately separates the two clauses, as "and" does not reinforce their relationship.
