What did you want to grow up to be when you were a child?

I wanted to be a singer when I was a child. My parents told that singer can't make money and now I'm stydying to be a teacher but in my country they don't earn so much. That's ironic.

Когда я была ребенком, я хотела стать певицей. Мои родители сказали, что певец не может заработать, и теперь я учусь на учителя, но в моей стране они получают не так много. Это иронично.

What did you want to grow up to be when you were a child?

I wanted to be a singer when I was a child.

My parents tolsaid that singers can't make money, and now I'm styudying to be a teacher, but in my country they don't earn so much.

That would be okay, but it's still a slightly disorganised sentence. If I went further:

"But my parents told me that singers can't make any money. Now I'm studying to be a teacher, but in my country they don't earn very much either."

That's ironic.

"It's ironic" might be better, but "that" is fine.
