Summary of Chapter 2: Willy Wonka

In thise second chapter one of theCharlie's grandparents of Charlie is makis telling stories about Willy Wonka and his sweets.

"Charlie's grandparents" sounds a lot more natural in English than "the grandparents of Charlie."

Every evening, Charlie went to the grandparents' bedroom to hear their stories.

Grandpa Joe, the oldest one, was telling him about theWonka's best inventions of Wonka.

Grandpa Joe got excited when he started telling to Charlie about the different sweets, bubble gums and Willy Wonka's other inventions of Willy Wonka.

One of the most incredible ones was that he made an ice cream that did not get runny for hours.

"That he made" isn't needed, since it's already known that they are discussing Willy Wonka's inventions.

What Grandpa Joe was doing was standing outdescribing all that Willy Wonka had made that anyno one else could not.

"Standing out" is usually used to mean that something is very noticeable compared to other things surrounding it, or that are associated with it. For example:

"The tall student stood out among his shorter classmates."
"His idea stood out from the others because it was so creative."

As Gramndpa Joe madetold the stories, the others grandparents agreed.

Charlie was really eager abouto know more.
