Pokemon GO: Making a hot spot in my rural town

I've been playing Pokemon GO since the launch. Despite the fever at the launch, It felt like no one besides me was playing the game in my rural small town.

I edited a nearby park last year on a website called Open Street Map, which is where Pokemon Go extracts the map data from for various uses. A few months later, the said park became what's called a nest, making it a great spot to play the game. And local players started to come to the park when events are ongoing.

This year, the park became eligible for EX raids, which gives you a chance at catching a rare legendary Pokemon if you win the battle. More and more people started to come to the park to get an invitation for the EX.

And last month, they finally allowed Pokemon GO players to submit a POI to create a new pokestop. I've successfully created more than 10 new pokestops in my town since then, including 2 in the park. Being rural helps submissions go through faster.

Today, I participated in an EX raid in the park. The parking was full and I saw more than 20 people playing the game despite it was cold and raining.
We won the battle with ease, and I caught a Regigigas, an EX exclusive legendary Pokemon.
My hard work of 2 years totally paid off today and so this was my success story. Yay!

You could also say "since its launch". "Since the launch" is technically correct, but these feel more natural to me.

There are lots of ways you could say this, so I picked one that kept the 'fever' part. "Despite it being so popular at" and "despite the hype at" both work too! For the second part, "no one besides me" works, but "I was the only one" would probably be my pick. "No one other than me" would also work here. :)

You don’t need a capital letter after a comma =)

"The park" also works, just letting you know that you can also say "said park" here, since you just talked about the park in the previous sentence.

Or you could remove “the”, so that it reads “A few months later, said park became...”. This would be a more old fashioned / formal way of writing, and certainly I’ve never heard someone speak this way, but it would be correct.

Teachers at schools in England tell us not to write “and” at the start of a sentence (because it is a conjunction, which connects two halves of a single sentence together). Plenty of people speak like this with friends, but it looks a little strange written, and it’s not really necessary.

Did you mean the park itself or the place where people park their cars or bikes before going into the park? The “parking” is the place to stop your car. There are a few different ways to correct “despite it was cold and raining”. You should say “despite the fact that...” or “even though...” or “despite the cold and the rain.”

The parking was full and I saw more than 20 people playing the game despite how it was cold and raining. The parking was full and I saw more than 20 people playing the game despite how it was cold and raining.
