When I visited a high school in Australia, I found something different from Japan. The students were using pens, instead of pencils. In Japan, high school students use pencils that look like pens. We call them "sharp pencils". If you use a pencil, you can erase what you have written, but if you use a pen, you cannot. So I wondered why they were using pens. And I thought European or American high school students use pens too because Australians do.

When I was in elementary school I used pencils. But I started using pens in junior high school.

"Because" is used when one thing is a reason for another. You could say, "Because Australia, Europe, and America are similar culturally, I wondered if European and American high school students use pens too." Or "Because I saw Australian students using pens, I wondered if European and American students use pens too."

Nice entry! In my high school in America, some students used pens and others used pencils :)

And then I thought that European orand American high school students probably use pens too because they are similar to Australians do.
"Because Australians do" sounds a bit vague in this context; I don't know if the revision correctly conveys what you were trying to say.

In America it depends on the age: younger students use pencils but older students use pens.

Good writing! I'm American and was forced to use pencils until high school. At that point, I was allowed to use basically whatever I wanted.

In canadian high school you were free to use whatever you wanted to. I personally never got used to the feel of ink so I used pencils (even though I'm left handed so I smudged everything I wrote). These days I just take notes on my Ipad .
