Yesterday, a person added me on Skype. Although I didn't know who he or she was, I accepted the request.

There were no profile photos, and his or her name was just a string of characters. I didn't say hello to him or her after accepting his or her friend's application.

This afternoon, she greeted me. She said her name was Blay, a hairdresser in the US. She was in a mixed race. Her mom was from Dallas and daddy was from Ghana.

She also told me that she was in Africa right now and her daddy just passed away a few months ago. She was the only child in her family. She couldn’t inherit her daddy's gold mine, because according to African tradition, only male or married women can inherit their parents' property.

She said she was still a spinster. To inherit her dad's gold mine, she had to find a man to marry. She said my profile left her a good impression, so she asked me to see if I could help her, and promised that she would give me 40 percent of the property.

I said I couldn't help her because I was a married older man. Even after that, she still insisted I could do that, and all I should do was to talk to her lawyer and give them my name.

I strongly rejected her, and I said even if I could help her, I wouldn't take a cent from her because I was not a greedy person.

She knew that she couldn't cheat me, so she just said thank you. I also said the best wishes to her.

During my whole English learning journey, I met many different types of scammers, but they never succeeded because I could spot them out at the very beginning.

Corrections

She was in a mixed race.

Her mom was from Dallas and her daddy was from Ghana.

Unless you're quoting her directly, "dad" is the more common usage for an adult. Daddy is very informal and normally used by young children.

She also told me that she was in Africa right now and her daddy just passed away a few months ago.

Thank you very much. I know the difference between dad and daddy now.
