I felt sick today

A week before, I had a cold. It wasn't a heavy one, but ,given the current situation, I was very concerned. I took a test and, luckly, I hadn't COVID. That time was the first time I felt sick in the whole year, so wasn't a great time for me.
Today I went out looking for a new pairs of shoes. When I returned I had a heavy headache. To be honest, I'm still in pain. I hope this is nothing.

I felt sick today

A week before,ago I had a cold.

Normally when discussing past events, the word "before" will be used relative to another event (or it will be clear from the context what the event is). For example:
"I didn't play well in my football match. I became ill the day before."
"I only enjoyed the last week of my vacation. Before that, I had terrible food poisoning."

It wasn't a heavysevere one, but ,given the current situation, I was very concerned.

Any English speaker will understand what is meant by "heavy" but a better choice of word is "severe" or "bad"

I took a test and, luckily, I hadidn't have COVID.

That time was the first time I felt sick in the whole year, so wasn't a great time for me.

Today I went out looking for a new pairs of shoes.

When I returned I had a heavy headache.

To be honest, I'm still in pain.

I hope this is nothing.
