A new interest
In the last days, I have been thinking about increasing my knowledge of logic. I took a year of formal logic in the university. It was a good class, but I do not remember the majority of its content. My current desire of learning logic comes from the interest I have got on analytical philosophy. This field, that before seems to be very arid, is looking interesting to me. I think it is so because I am sort of tired of the way the historians of philosophy work, always thinking in behalf of someone else. I think that, as it is necessary to be well-versed in the tradition, it is also necessary to be able to develop new ideas. Probably, at the end of the day, there will be almost no novelty on them, but still a thing cannot be said the same way twice.

If both clauses supported each other (As I love cats, I keep adopting more), then you could have used "as." But since the two clauses express some contrast ( X is important, BUT Y is also important), "while" is better.
