Je suis arrivée au Texas aujourd'hui ! C'était une très longue route, et on a commencé à 3 h du matin. J'ai essayé de dormir dans la voiture, mais c'était trop cahoteux et bruyant pour y parvenir. Mais avec un peu de caféine et un petit déjeuner le matin, je me sentais mieux. J'ai l'habitude de mal dormir et mon corps sait très bien tenir le rythme pour la journée. Mais maintenant qu'on s'est installées dans notre logement, j'espère que je pourrai bien me reposer pour notre grand rendez-vous de demain !
I made it to Texas today! It was a very long drive, and we started at 3 am. I tried to sleep in the car, but it was too bumpy and loud to get any real sleep. But with a little caffeine and breakfast the next morning, I felt a lot better. I'm used to not sleeping well, and my body is pretty good at keeping up for the day. But now that we've settled in our rented house, I hope I can get some good sleep for our big event tomorrow!

In the context, "on est parti" is more natural than "on a commencé" "La route a été longue, et en plus on est partis tôt ! 3 heures du matin !"

The sentence is perfect, and most french people would say that. Just a little remark. If style matters, "j'ai essayé" would logically call for a similar construction at the end of the sentence "pour que j'y parvienne".
Mais avec un peu de caféine et un petit déjeuner le matin, je me sentaissuis sentie mieux.
1. keeping the same tense as in the previous sentence 2. "imparfait" is generally used for long events or repeated ones. Here we are (arguably) talking about a sporadic event, hence the use of "passé composé"

If "nous" is composed of only women (two or more, and no men) then your sentence is correct. If there is a man involved, then it would be "qu'on s'est installés"... This is one exemple of sexism in the french language :)

yes... I understand. People shouldn't have to guess if the fridge is female or male :s That being said, I know there are general rules but I don't know them :s Courage !
