My Favourite English Words and Expressions

"Do you have any favourite words or expressions in your target language?"

I need time to think of the answer for a minute. I wonder what it is for me.
Now, a word came up in my mind. It's "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." This word amused me when I tried to memorize its pronunciation since it's so long and funny.
Speaking of Long and Funny, I reminded another word, "whatchamacallit." I only recognized it as a compact expression, that is compressed from a sentence, for a while from the first time I found it. Later, I found it's useful because you can use it as the object of sentences as a word.

For useful expressions, I'll show the following; "How should I put it?" I use this when I don't know how to make my idea into English sentences in conversations. Saying it helps to avoid silence during chatting.

「How should I put it?」(なんて言ったらいいかなぁ…?) です。 会話している途中、自分の考えを英語にするのが難しい時に使っています。 沈黙するのを防ぐことに役立つのです。

My Favourite English Words and Expressions

"Do you have any favourite words or expressions in your target language?

"

I need time to think of the answer for a minute.

I wonder what it is for me.

Now, a word came up in my mind.

It's "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

This word amused me when I tried to memorize its pronunciation since it's so long and funny.

Speaking of Llong and Ffunny words, I am reminded of another word, "whatchamacallit."

I only recognized it as a compact expression, that is compressed from a sentence, for a while fromafter the first time I found it.

Later, I found it's useful because you can use it as the object of sentences as a word.

Not quite sure what you mean here...

For useful expressions, I'll show the following;: "How should I put it?"

I use this when I don't know how to maketurn my ideas into English sentences in conversations.

Grammatically fine, but this is more natural.

Saying it helps to avoid silence during chatting.

Thank you for the corrections. Actually, I just remember just pronunciation, not the spelling of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." ( I use a voice-input system. )

Later, I found it's useful because you can use it as the object of sentences as a word.

I didn't know the usage of "whatchamacallit" as a noun.

It's like the following.
> “ I’ve broken the *whatchamacallit on my bag. ”
---- from 🌐 whatchamacallit | meaning of whatchamacallit in Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English | LDOCE
https://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/whatchamacallit

I just know of "whatchamacallit" as a short pronouncing from "What you may call it" for years.

Ah I see what you mean now. It sure is interesting.

"Later, I found it's useful because you can use it as the object of sentences as a word."

I would rephrase this as:
"Later, I found it's useful because you can use it as the object of a sentence in place of a noun."
