Feedback

The grammar is correct, but each sentence seems choppy and should be combined in order to sound more natural and cohesive. For example, I would write the entire thing like this:
"Xiaowang wants to buy a gift for Linna, but he doesn't know what to get. He knows that she likes to paint, so he is thinking of buying her either some paint brushes or some photo albums. Since there is a bookstore behind the post office, he will go there to get the gift."

When I had my own company, writing proposals was an essential part of our business. You would be surprised at how poorly my US born employees wrote, even those who graduated from Stanford or Berkeley. I was shocked that these people, whose native tongue is English, could not write as well as someone like me, whose first language is Chinese. You are already spelling and writing better than a lot of them.

Unfortunately, my Chinese is no good now. I can barely read, especially things written in simplified Chinese, and when I speak to people in China, they always think I'm from the South. They don't usually think I'm a foreigner, but they know for sure that I'm not from their town.

In General, it is very difficult for Chinese people to choose the correct prepositions in English, such as "at", "in", "with", "on", "against", "over", "around", etc. I have the same difficulties with my French. Sometimes, there are simply no explanations, but when you speak the language daily, you just know what to use.

Another thing I noticed about Chinese people is that they are very biased when they pick an English teacher. If the teacher looks Asian, they automatically assume that the person's English is inferior or has an accent. But if they look white, they must be better. In fact, the opposite is true. Most Asian Americans are highly educated, and really don't have a foreign accent, unless they moved here after college. Similarly, I'm finding the best online french teachers from countries like Cameroon, Tunisia or some other former french colonies.

In any event, keep up the good work. I wish I was as motivated and assiduous as you are.

Thank you for sharing your experience in language learning with me. You were telling the truth. Most Chinese people prefer to choose native English speakers as their tutor because they think native English speakers are always better than non-native English speakers at their English level. I have joined a WeChat group established by a few foreigners. They are all from either America or Canada and so on. After several months of observation, I found that some of them didn’t write well, but I just thought inside myself and didn’t dare show my opinion because I was wondering if I was wrong. In the process of learning English, I almost haven’t invited a foreign teacher. I study by myself. Sometimes I will have a short conversation with native English speakers, but I feel it’s difficult to talk with foreigners at my level. Because foreign teacher fees are very expensive, it is painful to spend money. Finally, I decided to learn English by myself. When my English gets better, I have conversations with foreign tutors to improve my speaking. You have been giving me a lot of help on my English journey and I am very grateful. But I don’t know how to thank you; I can only say thank you sincerely.

You are welcome. Just remember, I speak better English than most Americans and Canadians. They may have more colorful idiomatic expressions, but they do not write well at all. I don't mind helping you when I have the time, but once the pandemic is over, I think I will be traveling again. Although my parents are getting older, and that may force me to stay put more. In any event, keep practicing. I really enjoy seeing your progress.
