Journal

Last year, I read about the benefits of keeping a gratitude journal somewhere on the internet; keeping a gratitude journal can help you focus on the positive elements of your life, deal with stress well, and manage relationships better.

Ever since then, I tried to practice such journaling several times, but it was kind of hard to come up with the appropriate sentences every time. I was either not creative enough, or I must have forgotten to think positively for some reason. :) So somewhere along the way, I gave up keeping such journals.

But recently, I came across this writer on a vegitarian community who was posting gratitude journals online everyday. Her lines (or sentences?) were beautiful, as if she was writing verses of poems. I wished I was a talented writer as she was, but unfortunately I’m not such a good writer..:) I might be good at writing in a logical and coherent piece, but never in such a poet-like (?) way.

Nevertheless, her journals definitely inspired me to resume my effort to keep the gratitude journals. So I shall write from time to time here about the things I’m grateful for, from today on.

I will start from now, right below here.

<Today’s Gratitude Journal>

1. I’m grateful for the beautiful sunflower plant on my window shield that is growing taller day by day and giving me a pleasure of looking at it.:)

2. I’m grateful for the rosemary plant that gives off fragrant smell in the morning.

3. I’m grateful for the weather that warmed up and has been enabling me to sun on the grass.:)

4. I’m grateful that I can have a cooked fish and fresh veggie juices for lunch.

5. I’m grateful for having a family who are always supportive of whatever I decide to do.

; is used to connect two relating sentences together, but the one after should be shorter without commas - this isn't really a rule but this is how you will usually see it.

Ever since then, I tried to practice such journaling several times, but it was kind of hard to come up with the appropriate sentences every time.

you could use 'but' but I think it sounds a bit awkward, it sounds a bit too strong.

I was either not creative enough, or I must have forgotten to think positively for some reason.

:) So, somewhere along the way, I gave up keeping such journals.

words like 'so' are sentence starters, so use a comma if it would make sense if you took it out.

But recently, I came across this writer on a vegan community, who was posting gratitude journals online every day.

Her lines (or sentences?) were beautiful, as if she was writing verses of poems.

You could also use 'work' or 'writing'.

I wished I was as talented at writering as she was, but unfortunately, I’m not such a good writer..:) I might be good at writing in a logical and coherent piece, but never in such a poet-like (?) way.

Nevertheless, her journals definitely inspired me to resume my effort to keep the gratitude journals.

You don't need that bit, it makes sense without it.

So, I shall write here from time to time here about the things I’m grateful for, from today onwards.

I will start from now,; right below here.

You don't have to use ; but I think it fits perfectly here.

1. I’m grateful for the beautiful sunflower plant on my window shield that, which is growing taller day by day, and giving me athe pleasure of looking at it.

I'm not completely sure what you mean by 'window shield' but I think you mean 'windowsill/window ledge' (창턱).

:)

2. I’m grateful for the rosemary plant, that gives off a fragrant smell in the morning.

3. I’m grateful for the weather that warmed up, and has been enabling me to sutan on the grass.

I'm not sure what you meant by 'sun', but 'tan' is 무두질하다.

:)

4. I’m grateful that I can have a cooked fish and veggie juices for lunch.

5. I’m grateful for having a family who are always supportive of whatever I decide to do.
