Day 35: Serenade

Bringing serenade to someone is mostly done by men, but there's no a rule which says women can't do it too. Serenade is to perform a few songs in the night in front of the window of the loved one in order to express feelings like gratitude and love. However, there must be a courtship between the two beloved before. It doesn't have an origin in Mexico but is so popular that it's now a tradition. You only need a guitar, the ability to sing and a loved one. There is a scene in the movie The Book of Life where makes a reference to this tradition, the scene is "I Love You Too Much" if you want to watch it on youtube. I think that I would like to do this before dying. However, for that I need to learn how to play guitar and sing first (haha). Maybe in a far February fourteenth.

Edit: I forgot to say that if someone brings serenade to his(her) beloved, he(she) can also sing along with mariachi.

Feedback

I'm glad this tradition is alive and well in Mexico. I wish we had more people who could sing and play any musical instrument in the US!! Good work!

Day 35: Serenade

Bringing serenade to someoneSerenading is mostly done by men, but there's no a rule which says women can't do it too.

It is its own verb in English: “to serenade”.

Serenadeing is towhen a person performs a few songs during the night in front of the window of their loved one in order to express feelings like gratitude and love.

“Acting is when…”
“Singing is when…”

However, there must be a courtship between the two beloved before.

You’ve already told us they’re romantically involved no need to add this

It doesn't have an origin in Mexico but ist has become so popular that it's now a tradition.

Usage :) !

You only need a guitar, the ability to sing and a loved one.

There is a scene in the movie The Book of Life where it makes a reference to ithis tradition, the scene ist’s called "I Love You Too Much" if you want to watch it on youtube.

Grammar and usage so it’s more native like and natural

I think that I would like to do thisit too before dying.

Grammar, ‘it’

However, for that I’ll need to learn how to play the guitar and how to sing first (haha).

When we say “in our lives” it’s implied as a goal or objective in the future, so when referring to it we need to use the future tense (I’ll).

Maybe in a far away February fourteenth.

Edit: I forgot to say that if someone brings serenades to his(her) beloved, he(she) can also sing along with mariachi.

Feedback

Lovely work, in my country it is considered a Shakespearean practise and is not done at all now, but is generally thought to be very romantic, with the present equivalent being playing a song with a boombox in front of your beloved’s house (like in the TV show, Season 3, of ‘You’ on Netflix).

Oooh, I have heard that the origin of serenading is from Romeo and Juliet. I have seen about playing a song with a boombox in movies , I thought that it was something like an American joke.
