6月9日话题：在你的目标语言，你有没有最喜欢的词语？

对语言我很感情趣，所以当然有！还许多的呢！在我的母语英语中，我也很喜欢了解新词，书写而思考哪些词是最合适的，甚至有的时候会创造好玩的双关语。

在语言方面来讲，中文真有一种复杂的魅力。这语言包含深刻的文化，悠久的历史。并且，它很有诗意，而且创造可能性很丰富。我现在不断地会遇到新词，学到越多感觉越发精彩！尤其是，我特别欣赏成语。


我思考了一会儿，选了一些我喜欢的成语和俗语：
- 蜻蜓点水
- 敲山震虎
- 船到桥头自然直
- 得寸进尺
- 泼冷水

图面感很强！我读的时候就稍微能猜测意思。那么简洁的四字能表达那么多意义和智慧，挺厉害的。还有意思的是，有些成语在英语里有类似熟语，就是可能会从其他的方面来表达。比方说，“蜻蜓点水”（意思就是没有深入去了解或者做什么，只有表面上的领悟）让我想起来一些意思相似的英语熟语："the tip of the iceberg", "only just scratched the surface"。


然后，我还喜欢一些会重复两字的四字成语。这些成语有没有正式的名词？例子：
- 迷迷糊糊
- 鬼鬼祟祟
- 磨磨蹭蹭
- 叽叽喳喳
- 疯疯癫癫

我觉得不仅好玩，而听上去可爱！为什么要把简单的“迷糊”两字拉长变成“迷迷糊糊”呢？我没答案，但是这样表达，感觉确实也变了，更强调原有的感觉。


此外，有些成语会插进数字，也很有意思的。例子：
- 独一无二
- 一干二净
- 不三不四
- 十有八九
- 挑三拣四

这些数字成语确实是个独一无二的概念！是怎么样产生的？在英语里，数字完全没有这样的用法。

Do you have any favorite words in your target language? // I'm quite interested in languages, so of course! In fact, I've got many favorites! In my native language English, I enjoy learning about new words, writing and thinking about which words are most suitable, and sometimes even creating fun puns.

When it comes to thinking about languages, Chinese has a sort of complex charm. Within the language, there's a profound culture and a long history. It's quite poetic, and there are many creative and rich possibilities. I'm constantly encountering new words now, and the more I learn, the more amazing I think Chinese is! In particular, I really enjoy idioms.

After thinking for a while, I selected some idioms and sayings that I like:
- 蜻蜓点水 / dragonfly skimming water
- 敲山震虎 / knocking the mountain, scaring the tiger
- 船到桥头自然直 / when the boat arrives at the bridge, it will naturally go straight
- 得寸进尺 / reaching for a yard after gaining an inch
- 泼冷水 / pouring cold water

The imagery of these idioms is quite vivid! I can kind of guess at the meanings when I read them. Four simple characters can express so much meaning and wisdom - it's pretty amazing. What's more, some idioms are similar to sayings in English, but they might be expressed in different ways. For instance, "dragonfly skimming water" reminds me of some English idioms with similar meanings: "the tip of the iceberg", "only just scratched the surface".

I also enjoy four-character idioms that repeat two-character words. Is there a formal term to refer to these kinds of idioms? Examples:
- 迷迷糊糊 / dazed
- 鬼鬼祟祟 / furtive
- 磨磨蹭蹭 / dawdling
- 叽叽喳喳 / twittering
- 疯疯癫癫 / deranged

I think they're not only fun, but quite cute when said aloud! Why lengthen the simple word "迷糊" into "迷迷糊糊"? I'm not sure, but when it's expressed as this idiom, the original feeling feels emphasized.

In addition, some idioms will insert numbers, which is also a very interesting concept. Examples:
- 独一无二 / unparalleled
- 一干二净 / thorough; very clean
- 不三不四 / shady
- 十有八九 / nine times out of ten; most likely
- 挑三拣四 / pick and choose; picky

These number idioms are really a unique "独一无二" concept! How did they come into being? In English, numbers can't be used like this at all.
