365

This is the 365th entry for my streak. I've kept on posting the entries every day because I only wanted to improve my English ability at first, but this challenge gave me a more important thing. I learned "Continuity is the father of success" through my own experience. Sometimes, I was annoyed with how difficult learning English, for example, I couldn't explain what I wanted to say. I thought about quitting this challenge on the way, for nobody praises or blames me whether I quit or continue. At that time, I was encouraged by people who continued posting every day or didn't stop learning on this site. I want to be like them; that was one of the reasons I've continued. After a while, without realizing, I could be able to read English easier, write well, and listen to and understand English. Also, I got confident I could get things done to the end by continuing one thing for a year. Now, I want to learn English more than I started LangCorrect. Learning English (and maybe other foreign languages) will be my lifelong work. Thanks so much for always helping me!

Paid Friends

Today, I got a flier about rental friends. It said you can rent friends, but I wondered the friends were literally friends. I think friends are out of concern interest, so they are not friends as far as you pay for them; the relationship is limited. In addition, I can't imagine the feeling of whom works as a rental friend. While they behave as a friend of a client, do they think and treat the client as their friends? I guess they don't, so I think rental friends are weird and incomprehensible.

One Year Anniversary

September 24th is my first anniversary of LangCorrect. I began to use this website on September 24th, 2020, just a year ago. The first entry was about sea turtles endangered due to shrimp hunting, which I wrote to practice an English exam. I found LangCorrect by chance while browsing. At first, I thought I used it when I felt like it, but I realized it has a streak so I started to post an entry a day. I'm almost maintaining my streak for a year; September 27th is the 365th day if it goes well. I may quit every day-posting after the day, but I'll use this site in the future.

Full Moon and Friends

These three days, it's been sunny without any clouds. I thought the summer was over, but it wasn't. Additionally, the moon was almost full moon, so I could see a very clear and beautiful moon over the starry sky last night. Moreover, my friends of mine came to visit me by chance, and I could show them around. I rarely enjoy my town's famous products and sightseeing spots even though I live here, and it was also interesting for me. Through the experience, I thought again that friends are one of the most valuable things in the world. I'll keep in touch with my friends and cultivate relationships.

Books or Movie

I like books rather than movies. Of course, I enjoy both but I think books are more interesting. This is because I can read books anywhere and anytime; I often kill time reading a book. It's also possible to watch a movie using a portable device, but I want to watch a movie at once without disturb. Additionally, books have a long history and they are cheaper. If you have no money, you can read a book in libraries or can browse it in a bookstore.

Spider Crane

A spider crane is heavy equipment and I like its appearance. The characteristic part is the outrigger which looks like a spider's arm. The crane also resembles a crab so it is called "Crab crane" in Japan. I think it looks like Tachikoma, a kind of multi-legged tank in "ghost in the Shell." In fact, the crane can't move using the arms, because they only support the body. When the crane moves by the crawlers, the outrigger is folded and the body is compact. Therefore, it can be used in narrow places and indoors. It's often used for installations of tombstones at cemeteries and installations of machinery in factories.

Mayflies

(This entry is about insects, so please be careful if you don't like it.) The other day, there was a huge outbreak of mayflies in my city. Around the bridge near my university, a large number of mayflies appeared and died in a moment. As a result, the bridge and road were covered with dead mayflies... I saw a short video on Twitter, and it was like a snow scene because white things fluttered and piled up, but it was all insects. Due to the dead bodies, it's said that a moped slipped, or walkers and bikes couldn't pass through. Just imagining the situation gives me a shudder.

Heads or Tails?

Yesterday evening, I learned the call of a coin toss is "Heads or Tails." when I was watching a movie. I thought it was "Front or Back" because I say so in Japanese. However, we use "Heads or Tails" in Japanese in another situation. When we talk about Taiyaki, which is a Japanese sweet shaped like a sea bream, it's often asked which part you start to eat with the head or tail. By the way, it was said that people who start to eat with the head are smart and people who start with the tail are fast runners as I was a kid.

A Traffic Accident

The other day, a taxi driver died because of a subarachnoid hemorrhage while he was driving, and then the taxi lost control and five pedestrians were injured or dead. I feel sorry for them, and I think these kinds of accidents can be averted by technology. In this case, if the taxi had automatic braking, it wouldn't run onto the sidewalk. Moreover, fatal accidents due to reckless driving or speeding will disappear on the day when fully automatic driving will be in use. Some people criticize technology because it destroys the environment or kills people, but I believe it's vise versa.

Self-Introduction

I would like to change my self-introduction because the current one is written almost one year ago. Hello, I am a university student in Japan. I am a junior now and majoring in aerospace engineering. I am learning English because it is necessary for research activities. It is also fun for me to learn new knowledge about English and to interact with others in English. I appreciate all of your corrections and advice. Additionally, I want to help Japanese learners through this site. I am not a specialist in Japanese but I have been educated in Japanese and like reading books. If you have any questions about Japanese and Japan, I will answer as far as possible.

My Backpack

I have one favorite backpack that I've used for over five years. I like it because it is stout and has lots of storage. Additionally, the appearance is the coolest for me, so I always use it even though I bought a couple of other backpacks. Due to heavy use, the logo on the surface is partly missing and a zipper handle was almost shredded. Finally today, the zipper was broken and it's time to buy a new one. I'm a bit sad but satisfied that I've used it for such a long time.
